Trix on COYS:

I have been quite privileged the last few months in the fact that I have been privy to quite a lot of info regarding what has been going on be hind the scenes at the club. I have posted pretty much everything I have heard and most of it in as much detail as I could.
Something worth repeating though is...................
Poch is very happy with the squad he has got!
Levy was heavily criticised last Summer for having no coherent transfer plan, so instead this year we set out a list of targets that Poch thinks will improve squad in the positions he thinks need upgrading. With CB we have had a preferential list which we have worked our way through until we have gotten our target because Poch didn't have faith in what we had and the ones at the top of the list became unobtainable for one reason or another. That is a very different situation to the other signings we wanted.
There is no point in just bringing in players that the manager really doesn't fancy, because come January/next summer we will be looking to move them on again, (which is so very difficult) just to get the players that were top of the list as of now. Yes I think if we had pushed earlier we could have got Welbeck, but the fact is Poch wanted J-Rod which is why we dallied over getting Welbeck done on loan. As time moved on it became apparent that the loan option was no longer viable and it would have to be a a full transfer if we were to get him. No way were we going to pay in excess of £15mil for Welbeck, when the manager would STILL want Rodriguez in January.
IMO both deals for the Saints boys were possible, but it would have meant throwing a lot more money at the players than even Poch deemed they were worth(financially speaking). Yes it has been a disappointing end to the window but I will just reiterate Poch is very happy with the squad as is. I am underwhelmed with today but I'd rather wait and get the manager what he wants than another scatter gun approach like we had last summer, and we have addressed quite a few issues this window already. LB, RB, CB and CM have all been in Poch's opinion upgraded and that is the key to what he needs to do his job properly.
He is being backed even if it doesn't look like it from the outside, buying players he didn't want just for the sake of buying them would not be backing him, it would have been exactly the opposite.
And for anyone that puts this down to Levy PR spin, my info comes form sources close to Poch and to the Southampton end of things, not Levy or the club itself.

I am devastated!!

I've just wasted the best part of 6 hours glued to sky sports news with not even a peep coming from spurs.

I want my 6 hours back!

I want free tickets to 4 home games to make up for it

Blimey some poor people are gonna be upset when they find their pram emptied of all their toys tomorrow lol

If you don't like Enic then go protest outside the stadium see how many fans join you....

We're not Sheikh City or Russian mob Chelski. We dodged a bullet on Wellbeck and can't even get close to Falcaos wages.

We as fans support the club and that includes the players and management. Owners will come and go as will the above but there will always be Tottenham Hotspur

COYS
players yes. Manager yes. Money making machng enic? I hope they all get aids. Absolute ponces. My season ticket is now going to be abusing stub hub on a weekly basis. There is not one player that I genuinely can't wait to watch every week.

4 years ago we had 4 world class players. We now have none. What an absolute piss take.

You've decided Spurs have let Poch down - yet that's not the info we have at all. That every player has their price is not a new concept for us. Whose being naive here? Whose expectations are loftier than their level?

I do despair of our fan base on a regular basis buddy, I just try and put a more reasoned spin on things in the hope that some listen.

Reckon I've been here quite a while to know enough about the different types of fans we get on here.

Its the hope that kills most people. A lot of people who are venting tonight will have calmed down by tomorrow or later on in the week.

The fact that you can appraise things in a colder light, and perhaps in a less dispassionate sort of way, doesn't mean everyone can. People invest different levels of expectancy and hope.

The very nature of this whole forum builds excitement - and it builds for three months to a climax in one night.

Its been an anti climax in many ways today but I don't think the response has been too bad considering.

Sorry to make another post about it but if anyone needs a pick me up, go and watch Stambouli's interview on the OS. You won't be disappointed (unless you're a miserable git).

Me I'm just going to pretend that we signed Lamela 5 mins ago and that will let me sleep tonight. He is almost like a new signing apart from he has the benefit of having been with us for a year
The lamela thing just gets me down, thought we had a player again after qpr but everyone I spoke to after yesterday laughed, all think he is very predictable and can only beat people on his left side, Rodgers worked it out yest and the Liverpool players showed him on his left side then nicked it when he dropped his shoulder ! Not convinced at all !

An attempt at a different view of this-----
In Dier and Fazio we have strengthened an area we were poor in and Dier has shown good potential at RB.
In Yedlin we have a low risk investment that might turn in to something special. Worth the gamble.
Ben Davies is about as good a left back as we were likely to get.
Vorm is the perfect understudy to the best keeper in the prem.
Benji thingy is an unknown to most of us but, by all accounts is closer to the type of robust ball player that Poch likes.
We still have Bentaleb, capoue,
Dembele and Paulinho plus him for two cmid berths. That's strong in anyone's book.

Sandro, Dawson, Siggy, Holtby - good lads but not going to take us further. The squad is not poorer now they've gone- at all.

We should've signed a striker- no question and we have a void of leaders but it's time for others to step up and create a new identity under Poch.

Now the dust has settled and everyone is more realistic.. It's really not a suicide enducing window is it?

Although..... he should've got a striker....

That's strong in anyone's book.

It's not strong if they're shit! However I do like dembelle aha

Can I just ask before the window started who had Schneiderlin (@mrpink excepted), Jay Rod, Welbeck & Musacchio on their wish list?

Also who had Dawson, Sigurdsson, Sandro, Holtby, Fryers, Obika, Falque or Coulibaly in their 1st team?

And finally who of Vorm, Davies, Fazio, Yedlin, Dier & Stambouli do you think is a bad buy?
You win SC

Again, not the info we have. How many times have we seen "Poch happy with squad". He's the one who matters after all.

If Pochettino was so happy with the squad then what's all the ITK we've been hearing? How many posts have there been about Pochettino wanting Schneiderlin at Spurs? How about other so-called upgrades like Musacchio?

Don't worry, the usual excuses will be trotted out for failing. But don't you think it's wearing a bit thin now?

Of course Pochettino will say he's happy with the squad. I just don't think he is.

Pochettino has just been Levied. Welcome to Tottenham Hotspur!
