Pochs interviews are so pointless.

Hopefully it is a bit else with the players. He srsly cant be happy with this display.

I doubt he's over the moon but the best managers rarely slag their players off in post match interviews.

You never should slag off your players, thats a thing Sherwood cost his job. But you shouldnt act deluded and deny what everybody else sees because then you cant be sure the coach can change the obvious weakness's

I think it is time to put to bed those ridiculous assumptions that Jan Vertonghen is grumpy and unhappy at spurs because he doesn't smile.

He has the most passion out of anyone.

Does have some nice skills though!??. Got to admire his work rate too. Will improve but has quite a few assists this season already.

This is one of the posters you don't get in to a discussion with about Lamela if you have something positive to say.

It will not be acknowledged.

Nothing good that he does can ever be seen by certain posters on here.

What's so frustrating is that if we could actually win at home we'd easily be in the top four. We've just dropped so many easy points at home.

Individual skill. Are you honestly going to try and spin that performance into an affirmation of Pochettino's influence? We were shit for the vast majority of the match, and Pochettino did absolutely nothing to change it.

A tiny handful of performances can be attributed to Pochettino's positive influence. Today's was despite him.

Agreed.. worrying isn't it. Anyway, 3 points to us. Its not always the better team that leaves with all the points as we well know.

Man U have taken 6 points after getting played off the pitch against Arsenal and Southampton so fk it, I'll take it but Christ we look disorganised.
I'd like to see 451 Kane up front, Erikson behind him, Chadli lw, Lennon rw, Stambouli and Mason maybe.
What I really wanna see is round pegs in round holes, Lamela dropped (we're playing with bloody 10 men) and Soldado, sorry mate, times up.
Def need proper wingers in front of full backs because with Lamela and Erikson they're left exposed plus we're too narrow.

Thrilled with the result, but not the performance.

However, substitutions were spot on for me today - first time in a while I've been able to say that.

To be fair I dont know what else he could have done?
  • He changed our formation to a 4-3-3
  • He took off the 3 players who were not performing in Mason, Lamela & Soldado
  • We looked better in the last 15 mins and eventually won the game?
Now dont get me wrong we didnt play well today but Poch gets zero credit, EVER. Personally I think he made the exact substitutions that I would have made, and a lot of people were calling for on here, and we eventually won the game.

i am going to stick my head out and contradict 90% of you on here.

we did not have a poor game.

it was never going to be an easy game, swansea are great at home, they move the ball well and in bony, they have genuine goal threat every time they get to the final third... and then the rain and wet pitch meant that controlling the ball, and weighing passes became a little more difficult than usual.... plus the fact that they are also a pressing team... so it is not a surprise, heck in fact, it should be a given that in this match we were always going to lose possession because of miscontrols, bad passes, losing 50-50 on occasion and interceptions.

those who played very well - lloris, walker, davies, kane
those who played well enough - verts, fazio, eriksen
hardworking and under the radar - bentaleb mason, i would put lamela here too but am a little disappointed he didn't do more offensively, defensively though, i give him credit...
soldado - i felt the game was too fast, too wet, too tight, too physical, too hurried for him today, hence he didn't get to stamp his mark.

more importantly, today's substitutions and the timing of them were all spot on.

at 1-1, we needed to shore up the middle without compromising too much our attack, dembele for soldado worked well... dembele dictated the tempo well today ironically by slowing the game down... (we usually slaughter him for slowing our attack down)

stambouli was a beast when he came on, and beside winning 50-50s and interceptions, he was calm and composed and looked to play good balls to the final third and especially when swansea started to tire.

i felt 80 mins was perfect for lamela, because as swansea tire, he became more prominent in the attacking third and with stambouli, he can afford to push forward that little bit more, ditto eriksen. and he had to go for fresh legs and prevent a red.

i cannot rave enough about walker and davies today... if walker had been fitter, we would see why the inverted winger aka lamela on the right is no longer a problem.

and i also felt that if we could hold out beyond 75 mins, we will create more chances in the last 10 mins... swansea really started to tire... siggurdsson and bony became anonymous and the defence started to make mistakes.

up steps eriksen kane dembele stambouli and even bentaleb who pressed high... and our defence also move up to half way line, and as all tired defenders do, they started to hoof the ball up instead of playing it out and fazio and vert had easy time heading clear, and playing bony offside.

in fact, just like pre season, we could have had 1 more if kane had been a little less tired, or go down for the penalty

so all in all, i am actually happy with the performance, given the circumstances. and of course, delighted with the result.

one poster said man utd are improving and we are not... i wholeheartedly disagree... the jigsaw is starting to piece together very nicely.
