Signed a new deal this afternoon apparently.

I just checked some Beguin websites and they seem to think he might be going to Genk and though SL have offered him a new deal. Where did you hear he's signed a new contract?

he did sign a new contract with Standard, but it remains unsure he'll stay. His manager is quoted in the media saying an absolute European top club, amongst the five best in Europe, is very interested and will take another closer look at him at the Semi's of the EC-21. It's rumoured to be Manure, with Sir Alex in the stands wednesday.

For that price we might as well go for it - If he is available that cheaply

I seriously doubt it. He recently bought himself out of his contract. He wouldn't do that if he was planning on staying. He probably resigned for purely financial reasons. As an 18 year old he is unlikley to get a big signing on fee, so he's probably cut a deal with Liege, in which he has only resigned with them so he can get a large cut of any transfer fee. It would be a good deal for both parties and makes sense. He isn't going to go to the effort of buying himself out of his contract if he was planning on staying.

He's just doing his own version of what we did with Stephen Kelly. You don't buy yourself out of a contract only to resign with the same club a few weeks later. Otherwise he'd have just re-signed and not spent his own money buying hmself out. I'll be amazed if he doesn't now hold a contract the entitles him to at least 50% of any transfer fee Liege recieve and that there is an agreement that he can leave for a fee around £2 million. I'll be very suprised if he is still there at the end of the summer.
