Do we really need him? Looks to me that the current set up seems to be doing fine, why rock the boat?!!

It still appears half of you bloody don't know what a sporting director does and is instead someone to blame when it goes tits up:rolleyes:

Whatever happened to the Cortese speak? I'd be pretty excited to have him link with Poch at Spurs.

Lol. People want levy to step back from the football side of spurs yet when he tries to employ someone to run that side they go apeshit?

Not that I'm going to go into it again, but too many of you are equating "Technical director" as the bloke that identifies and negotiates the transfers. I assume this would be a direct replacement for Franco, so will have similar responsibilities, which are not those described above.

I think "some of you" are forgetting Comolli and Baldini.

It's not necessarily that they do a bad job. But both failed repeatedly to get what the coach wanted and then in each case the relationship with the coach broke down, especially when a 2nd rate alternative was dumped on them.

The only way this system works is if under no circumstances is a player not wanted by the coach purchased and genuine actual attempts to sign the identified players is made.

The best example of a DoF fucking up has to be replacing Carrick with zokora when Carrick would have stayed for a reasonable payrise.

Carrick was never going to stay once Man U were interested. We knew what Comoli's role was, he gave interviews, no one knew what Baldini did, there were only assumptions and he never gave any interviews at all.
