Makes sense to rotate the squad, give players a game to settle them into the squad should they be needed at a later date.
One thing that does make me laugh is how Kane has been dropped but Rooney has been rested
I hate the idea of resting/rotating in major tournaments, it kills any momentum a team might have.... England have none so in this instance it might not be so bad?
Anyway, the point I wanted to make is maybe it's about fitness tests for Henderson, Wilshere and Bertrand? I'm trying to justify the unjustifiable but maybe it's better to thrash those three to find out they are fit enough to use in later games?
