It's a shame that the stability at the club has been punctured a little. The key thing will be whether Poch is affected by it.

We'll never really know the ins and outs of it though. Oh for some decent ITK!

One thing I don't believe is that Mitchell got frustrated by "Levy's hardline negotiating style." Mitchell is an intelligent guy and would have known the financial restraints we were under when he took the job. If anything - producing wine from water is what any good recruitment head should aspire too anyway.

Really weird something big has seemed to happen maybe it was the way levy drags his feet with deals and Mitchell has just had enough.

Or maybe Mitchell just simply wanted a change.

Or he's done something wrong that's upset levy and levy feels like he can't trust him

Maybe he just had a better financial offer.

Tottenham’s head of recruitment quits after dream job turns into nightmare
• Paul Mitchell to leave club after less than two years
• 34-year-old had worked under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton

Mitchell had worked closely and productively with Pochettino at Southampton and the reasons for his decision to leave Tottenham are not linked to any breakdown with the Argentinian.

He had simply had enough at White Hart Lane and the frustrations were so great and the job satisfaction so little that he chose to inform the board of his desire to quit. It has been suggested that Mitchell struggled to work with the chairman, Daniel Levy, the notoriously hard-line negotiator, who has long taken a hands-on role in player recruitment. Mitchell will now serve a period of notice, which will include the remainder of the summer transfer window. He is a diplomatic but fiery character and, once his mind is made up, there can be no changing it.

On Mitchell’s watch, the club have signed eight senior players, with the latest being Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen this summer. The stand-out successes have been Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli but the latter was pushed by David Pleat, the club’s former manager, who continues to act as a part-time consultant to Levy. There have been questions asked over Son Heung-min and Clinton Njie, who arrived last summer for a combined £32m.

Leicester City, who lost their head of recruitment Steve Walsh, may now attempt to hire Mitchell.

Headline: Dream job turns into nightmare

Article: It has been suggested that Mitchell struggled to work with Levy

 shockingly bad article by the normally good Hytner

Maybe I am being a bit slow here but I don't see why this would annoy Mitchell, his job is to find and recommend players. He isn't the manager so I don't see why he would be annoyed.

A sensible post in a shit storm.

Not really because the likes of Edwards, Winks and Oonamh haven't proved anything yet. If more than one of them turns out to be a success then I would be very surprised. There is plenty for any DOF to do at the clubs, let's not pretend otherwise.

Levy called him Mitch in his quotes on the twitter, I doubt Levy would ever call him Mitch if the split was because of problems between the two of them.

its not rocket science ...... why be head of recruitment at a club that doesn't feel like it needs to actively recruit.

Yea, we never recruit, why that Victor Wanyama guy is just a figment of our imagination and Vincent Janssen, clearly he's just Eriksen's Dutch alter-ego.

This really worries me. Not so bothered about these two but if Poch is being undermined....

Theres been nothing to suggest that Poch has been undermined. He's just gotten a new contract to make him the 'manager' not 'head coach' and has been backed early with two key signings.

Believe Caplehorne deals with a lot of the negotiations these days anyway according to an article I read recently...

My concern now is what effect this will have on MoPo. They obviously had a good working relationship going back to the SCBC days, as somebody mentioned earlier had this anything to do with MoPo being undermined? Was there an attempt at hierarchy musical chairs? I suppose any conspiracy theory could be found to match this. Or it could just be a case of enough is enough.

Hertyid on COYS:

He has 3 month notice apparently. He is leaving on good terms. There was frustration on both sides. DL expected more.
