Old girlfriend used to support them so went to watch them play pre season against west ham. Spent most of the match in a queue trying to get her a burger.

Thank fuck.

Winding up order and a huge tax bill for Orient. Free stadium in Orient's catchment area and never ending government handouts to run it for West Ham. Two failed businesses with two totally different outcomes

Should've got those donations in to the Tory party nice and early like 'Lady' Brady...

Hope they pull out of it. A proper family club. I have been to Brisbane Road twice and to the Northcote for a pint a couple of times.

They sit there and have to take it as West Ham moves into their territory and then proceed to hand out freebie tickets to fill out their new, free stadium that they don't even own. Add in the fact they were sold to a crazy owner who literally kicked the assistant manager once on the sideline and you can see how messy it is.

In 2014 they were in the League 1 playoffs and were up 2-0 at Wembley for promotion to the Championship but couldn't hold on. They are a lot of people's second club. I hope ourselves and Arsenal can help them out in some way like a friendly at Emirates & WHL and give them the proceeds.

Watching a proper family club go bust over a 250k tax bill would be a shame. Someone at the FA should lose their job over letting that owner pass the "fit and proper" test.

If their Italian owner passed the fit and proper test then it proves the test is a joke. Weren't they in something like the League One playoffs when he took charge? A manager and player turnover Cellino would be proud of and a host of dud signings from mainly Italy from what I've gathered and this is what they deserve.

Feel very sorry for the fans.
The test absolutely is a joke. Morecambe have a dispute at the moment as there are 2 people claiming to be the owners and no-one seems to know who actually owns the club. Because of it all, the players and staff go for months at a time without being paid and it's looking more and more likely that the club will go under. Their manager got a 1000 pound fine for his touchline antics, so the fans all chipped in and paid the fine for him.

I'd liken Barry Hearn to Sir Phillip Green on this one. As soon as they got shafted for a share of the Olympic Stadium, he baled out and sold to any old mug who had enough money. Plenty of loyal employees get flushed down the tubes in the process. Greedy w***kers the lot of them.

Gutted. Was a ball boy there as a kid. The old man had a pub nearby as well.

35p for the 97A (later the 357) from the bottom of my road, near the dogs, to right outside the snooker club on the high road. Used to go there semi-regularly as a kid - was there rattling a bucket collecting for charity on Shilton's 1,000th game (it was while the south stand was missing, iirc, before the rebuild. He touched the ball twice, both times the roof came off), a few Spurs friendlies, but often i'd not even know who was visiting and just hop on the bus at 1.30 saturday, just after lunch, and pay on the gate - was it £2 for teenagers?

The one thing that was always obvious is how much of a family oriented and community spirited setup they had and it's been really sad seeing the decline since this new owner turned up. He doesn't talk to the fans or give a singular shit about the club or anything about it. I know a couple of O's who go every week and they've gone from being annoyed by crap results to just looking really sad and, if you bring it up, they just shrug and sigh.

It was 1/6d to get in when I used to go there when Spurs were playing away -and that included a programme given out at the turnstile while it was 2/6d for the schoolboys entrance at WHL with no programme.

They were called the "Cinderella team" when they made their meteoric rise to the old first division back in the '60s (as well as their speedy plunge back down again). Enjoyed going to Brisbane Road, always a lovely atmosphere. When Mark Lazarus played for them, his whole, large family turned up to support him every home game.

I've always had a soft spot for them and have some lovely memories, a very different game back then.

I was there for Shilton's 1000th game. If I remember correctly it was a freezing cold day, just before Christmas and was an absolutely dreadful game.

My grandparents lived in Wanstead when I was a kid and I had other family living in Leytonstone so I always looked out for their results and the first game I ever went to was at the O's. I can't remember who they were playing, but I can remember how quiet the stadium was until the opposition scored and the home fans started clapping! I think I went on a five minute rant to my mate telling him that they were clapping the wrong team.

Alan Comfort was just amazing. One of my all time favourite football matches was the O's v Rochdale. Ronnie Moore played for Rochdale and was an old dirty bastard all game. Orient won 5-1, and Moore got sent off just before the end. He'd been getting the bird from the fans all day, and his face when he realized he had to walk down the tunnel past them all was something I'll remember all my life! We all ran from all over the stand to the wall by the tunnel - I'm pretty sure my Dad did too. God I miss standing.

This was a message that the Spurs trust sent:

We wanted to express our support and sympathy for your efforts to rescue your football club from the sorry state the current ownership has brought it to. Leyton Orient v Tottenham Hotspur is the original North London Derby and there have been many connections between fans of both clubs over the years. We hope to see a healthy, thriving LOFC emerge from the current crisis. We are happy to help you in whatever way we can.

I'm pretty sure that Barry Hearn (and not the new owners) still owns the stadium so even if the club go bust they should still be able to recover and play there as the stadium should be safe. I suppose it depends what punishment the league will put on them

According to this he "transferred the ownership of Brisbane Road to a trustee-administered pension fund at the end of last year."

I hate the league's policy of draconian penalties like points deductions for clubs that go into administration. The idea of a deterrent is OK in theory if it deters crooked owners from dodging their obligations or trying to get an unfair advantage over the competition. But generally the days of Leeds Utd type "unfair competition" are over, and if it has been replaced it is by genuinely unfair oil and gas financed financial doping.

So all this punishment regime does in reality is make a very bad situatation for financially weak clubs even worse.

And as always the people who suffer the most are the supporters.
