Edwards is losing patience?? I have to say that kid is starting to piss me off. He hasn't shown anything to be as good as he thinks he is.
Edwards is losing patience according to who????
The Marcus chat is a load of bullshit! He still has 1 more year on his contract and he knows what work needs to be put in... unfortunately injuries haven't helped and breaking into our first team squad is almost impossible these days. Trust me there's no issues from his side! Don't believe everything you read.

Pinch of salt as ever, but not overly bothered by that itk. Every summer we hear about how Levy's perceived stinginess is going to damage us, then next season we improve. This dates back roughly to Harry Redknapp's first summer in charge.

You heard it here first ladies and gents.

BBLG says we're going to win the league.

If its true Poch has the final say on who comes and goes then I don't think we have anything to worry about.

What goat has bleated is not a surprise to me & should not be shocking news to others as well. Regardless of how much money we will earn through TV , with potentially a 500m loan debt coming our way, if anyone thought its going to be a easy ride, they are only fooling themselves.

At the same time, I am very sure Levy would not lose the squad in anyway. Even now, with exception of Walker, I don't see anyone else to leave. If we ride out this season & win something, we should be more than preepared when we enter the new season.

I see no reason to worry, atleast for now

not really itk from storts but doesent sound like hes heard the same as the goat:
We get this sort of information every year it seems, hyperbole as far as I'm concerned, in my opinion it's not something to worry about

If the goat ITK is correct.
Edwards losing patience - don't think he is in a position to do that. Talented kid but should get the head down and show he's worth all the hype.
Levy difficult to deal with? Who'd have thought it.
Some players thinking they should earn more - surprise, surprise.

Let's just see what happens over the summer.

IIRC this sort of ITK is not unusual every now and then. Levy will never start throwing cash around. It's the downside to the businessman that has made the club the success it presently is.

The only worrying thing I have heard for many summers is that Levy was willing to sell Kane but he wanted to stay and that was from ROB. That's a bombshell other than that i'm as cool as a summer breeze about everything else.

Meltdown comes easy to us when there is actually nothing going on.

Calm down another exciting season coming up.

Seems a bit strange considering how many new contracts were agreed over the last year.

I don't think we are going to see mass exits, but we do need to address our pay policies if we do want to compete with the big clubs.

Again, maybe this is because I have been lower-middle class my whole life, but the greed in the game makes me so mad.

What happened to pride in what you do?

A shitty anecdote, but I hold an MBA and left a job making $110k a year for a job where I make $38k. Why? Because I can't sell a product that is detrimental to what I believe in. I now help low income families find stability. I love what I do and I won't be leaving anytime soon, no matter the pay.

Mbappe came out yesterday and said something that made me happy. He said a players job is to work with kids and be a positive influence. That right there is the mentality these players need. Sure he is going to be paid, but the kid clearly has a bigger picture mentality if he is saying that. But the unfortunate bit is that a lot of players could care less.
It was all going so well. Wonderful post. Then this little bit in bold at the end.

It's couldn't care less.

We always seem to be fed some doom and gloom ITK over the window, most likely to dampen our expectations.

There's been a lot of excitement over potential incomings (Lemar, Sessegnon etc.), this feels just like a bit of a reality check to the fans.

It won't be a massive shock if a few players go and a few come in. It's a natural process season by season. We will probably lose one or two talented players by the very fact our squad is getting better and better each season. We will probably sign one or two talented players too.

We just have to hope we get more Sons then Sissokos. And if we do lose any big players, try to ensure there position is covered (either via new incoming(s) or from the youth set up).

We are way ahead of schedule. So we have to deal with it and adjust the plan as the rewards are greater than the risk. Winning the league will give us huge momentum and a much bigger club profile. Adjust the tactics and take advantage of what the front end is giving you. Sure it will cost more money short term but the longer term benefits far outweigh the risks. We dont have to spend tons of money to do so. Just spend alittle more. We're extremely close. We are right there. Increase wages a bit to keep our players and bring in a quality player. We dont need to increase our expenditure by £100m-£200m like other clubs are doing.

Exactly this, the phrase speculate to accumulate comes to mind.

Using rough maths giving our core 15 players 50k extra a week (could be distributed differently) would cost around £40m a year. That still wouldn't put us on par with Liverpool/Arsenal in spend (gap was around £100m). There is a rule about salary increases using TV money but I believe we have enough commercial income to circumvent that. It's a huge jump but I believe the increase in PL prize money was around that in itself.

The bit I don't get is how it would be a risk. Say we give Dier £150k to stay. He's not exactly going to be hard to sell if things go wrong (for a huge fee too), we are unlikely to be saddled with dead costs we can't shift. I get the concern with going out and buying a load of players on that kind of money, but these players are known commodities. Keep this core and that sort of turnover is not required. I'd much rather keep the whole squad sweet than have a large net spend on transfers.

Maybe I'm being naive (likely) and maybe us being prudent now saves the doomsday scenario of us having to have a firesale to make ends meet in future, but really if we sell more than just Walker early this window we may as well pack up and go home anyway!

For what it's worth I think we will make this summer work eventually, we've come too far to not try and push on now, but it's going to get hairy along the way no doubt!

If someone wants to leave for more success or playing time, fair enough, I can't blame them. If they're not a Spurs fan they wouldn't have that much loyalty to us and they want to utilise their relatively short careers as much as they can.

But if the sole reason you're leaving one club for another is more money, I think it's f***ing pathetic. When you're earning the likes of £100k per week how much difference can £50k/£100k per week extra make? You're still rich as f*** and can buy almost anything. I can't even imagine how it's possible to spend that much but they still want more... It's ridiculous.

If one of our players leaves us for like Manchester Utd or Liverpool, both in worse positions than we are currently, just for an extra £50k per week I'll be disgusted

Also I just checked and apparently Sissoko is on £95,000 per week (our 3rd highest earner). WTF! :banghead:

Could we not just sell him and give the £95k to any players causing unrest about wages?
