Thought he looked really good. He was a bit tentative throughout the match but I understand that. He kept to his duties well and was very, very solid.

Very good and solid debut. Tried to get involved in offense. But MOTM is way too much. Will be interesting to see if Poch plays him versus Chelsea.

No wonder Poch gets great loyalty from his younger players. Always prepared to put trust in them and give them an opportunity.
Like anyone else chucked in the deep end it takes a bit of a learning curve and maybe a few mistakes, before you are the finished articles, but he acquitted himself well today.

I am going to guess no - assuming Pedro is back - I think Poch will want more experience. But maybe we go to the 3421, and that helps KWP on that side.

assured performance to build on, defensively he was challenged from the off and he handled it brilliantly. I expect more from going forward in the future. Seeing a kid like KWP who is calm, shy and is in it for the love game is why pochettino and what's happening at spurs so special and something others will never be able to understand.

was it going to be a stonewall penalty on gayle if not for the offside, i personally thought Gayle flopped and KWP while being caught a little offgaurd at first stood strong.

The thing about KWP - that distinguishes him from Onomah - is he acts like he belongs on the pitch. He does not shy away from his responsibilities, he carries himself like he belongs on the senior team. Same attitude I saw when Winks came up, same as Dele, or Kane, or Dier.

I hope Onomah finds that confidence this season at Villa - sometimes thats the difference in a top player and a journeyman.

probably helped that he was played in the position he's been playing in for the past five years too.

Hardly fair considering that Onomah has played out of position

Play KWP in DM and then lets see if he belongs on the pitch?

He had a good game, MOTM stretching it a tad, but pleased for him and great for his confidence, yes he was fortunate that Gayle was offside for the penalty shout, on another day Gayle stays onside and it's a penalty all day long, and that could have really affected him today. Sometimes you need a bit of luck going your way. Still not convinced he's ready to deputise for Trippier for a sustained period but an encouraging start.

Played bloody well, but man of the match was a bit of a stretch, no way his performance would get that if he was just another player. Good performance, but sky love a good romantic story.

I thought it was between him, Dele and Eriksen. The other two were more involved in the decisive moments, but KWP was targeted as our weak link and stood up to the test brilliantly.

You guys are reading too much into this - KWP played composed and like he belonged when he played LB this summer - its an attitude, not necessarily ability. You saw it from the other young players who have broken through.

I think Onomah will get there. I think maybe he needs that year at Villa to find that belief. I think he showed it at the U20 WC - now he needs to show it at the senior level. Its fine margins at this level.

Eriksen for me. It was the debut aspect that made his performance a real good one. Proper glad for the bloke, but I genuinely believe that performance wouldn't have even been a footnote if delivered by Davies on the other side. Great start though.

Fair bit more pressure on a debut though. KWP handled the pressure and put in a performance where he made some key contributions. (A few mistakes - as did several players - and none punished too severely)

Honestly, I think this is such a poor and unfair assessment of Onomah. People put far to much emphasis on appearances.

First off, if Kane had been played in CM he wouldn't look so assured and even his first half dozen games at Striker had most saying "Championship at best" (inc you possibly), Alli looks too fucking assured most of the time, Dier got skanked horribly in first home game playing at RB against Liverpool I think (might have that wrong about the team).

If he'd (Onomah) been played in CM, where he is supposed to be played he may have looked more assured, like he did at the WC, like he did in big games against Chelsea in YC semi finals etc.

Onomah's strength is his composure under pressure, and in much the same way that Eriksen doesn't really show that aggressive"attitude" you have to appreciate that attitude comes in others shades. Onomah will get stuck in and compete, he'll tackle, his attitude manifests by producing composure under pressure when others are flapping and treating the ball like a hot potato.

He won't do what Alli does and provide 3 explosive moments and a lot of dithering, he'll provide 85 minutes of composure and intelligence. It takes both to win games

That's why I said the debut made it a real good one.

Sorry - but he has not shown it at the senior level yet. I think he has it in him, and I hope he gets that confidence this year.

It has nothing to do with what position he plays. Its time to put that meme to rest. Its getting tired. When you are young, trying to break in - you take your chances where ever you can get them.

He did really well the other day for villa playing in his natural position.
