To beat them would be pretty epic. However if we get totally outplayed and well beat. It may be the one time my love of football overrides my love of spurs. And we just have to admit that no matter how much they’ve spent we are witnessing something very special in the history of football.

You’d make an outstanding sky pundit with that sort of chat

No way is it even close to special, they’ve bought the fucking league.

If they weren’t top after the money they’ve thrown at it, Guardiola wouldn’t be in a job.

Leicester was a special story, not these financial doping cretins.

It’s the least special story in football history imo

Every single title winner in memory is a better story. Even the same sugar daddy City in previous years!

I don’t think this is just about money. United have spent exactly the same and are mikes behind.

I believe City’s squad cost a fair bit more. United have made some strange purchases but it seems like a mishmash between what Jose wants and what he thinks United want maybe?
He should just stick to his guns, buy his hard working, effective and consistent types that he swears by and forget about the Mkkhirtyyryan types he so clearly isn’t a fan of.

Anyway, we are winning on Saturday. I can feel it. I’d start Dele deeper, in a similar role he played against Liverpool. He can do it and I’d trust him more in that role against an elite side than against a relegation battler. He will be sharper in the mind knowing that pissing about with it in dangerous areas isn’t an option

Lloris

Trips
Dier
Verts
Rose

Dembele
Dele

Eriksen
Lamela
Son

Kane

It’s a bit of a risky starting XI but with Sanchez and Toby missing, I’d switch it up. Winks was terrible last night

This is almost like a game to nothing based on what we’ve seen this season. We can adjust mid game if it’s not happening...or if we need to shut it down a bit

I nearly threw up reading that

Yes, we are indeed seeing something special - a corrupt Middle Eastern theocracy which doesn't believe in human rights spending more than a billion quid on a penis substitute. Something really special.

Can see his point in terms of pure football. City are playing the best football I've seen in the league, even better than Arse in their unbeaten year. Chelsea have had shed loads of dirty money up the ying yang for years, but despite their successes, were never a joy to watch.

Still, I agree it's not special in the scheme of things as I could only imagine what Poch could do with Pep's financial resources, and what City would look like if Pep had Poch's.

Winks was terrible last night

...Winks wasn't "terrible" - he was just as mediocre as all his other appearances this year...

Lloris

Trips
Dier
Verts
Rose

Dembele
Dele

Eriksen
Lamela
Son

Kane

It’s a bit of a risky starting XI

..."a bit?" - that lineup would get slaughtered 6-0, maybe 6-1 if Lamela pulled a Rabona...put Davies in for Rose and it would be 8-0...

Don’t know if anybody is remembering this but the last time we played City in the league we started with 3 in the back. They destroyed us in the first half and went up 2-0. We switched back to our back 4 in the second and miraculously got a 2-2 draw. It really was our impetus for scraping the back 3 last year and switching to a back 4 full time. We just match up better with them in a back 4 playing them man for man.

Lloris
Aurier Dier Vertongen Rose
Dembele Winks
Lamela Eriksen Son
Kane

Lamela for Alli in this one. His intensity and energy will be needed here. Aurier & Rose match up better with Sane & Sterling than Davies & Trippier do. Their ability to fly down the wings will also be crucial to counter them.

a bit late to the party but they might of destroyed us possession wise in the 1st half, but the score was 0-0, we then switched to a back 4 and they still destroyed us, but we managed to come back from 2-0 (goalkeeper blunders) to snatch the draw, even though they should of had a penalty due to Walker, but we got lucky.

I've never met a City fan in real life but the paranoia and insecurity on bluemoon is laughable. Deep down they know their success will always be hollow.

FYP keep our 2 best keepers together just don't put Kane in charge if they have a free kick outside the area:whistle:

Probably also both more likely to switch off, not track a run, run the ball out of play, mis-control it, etc. etc.

There's not even a competition at the moment for the top dogs in those positions. It's very comfortably Trips and Davies, regardless of pace.

I agree just we will have to sit deeper than we normally do, a bit like RM away

Davies needs to start no question about it has been one of our best players this season.

Have a feeling Llorente will start and will cause them problems

Lots of people leaving Dele out, and on form I can understand why. Can't for one second not see him starting on Saturday though, in form or not. He is a big game player and has a very good record in the bigger Prem games, ID be amazed if he doesn't start.

I think we will line up very similar to how we did v Madrid personally only with Son over Llorente.

I think we’ll go with a very similar team to Madrid away so either Nando will start or Son will play right up top with Kane. They try and condense the game into a very small part of the pitch and us having the ability to hit it long to two strikers could help us counter quickly.

Hugo
Trip - Jan - Dier - Davies
Winks
Dembele - Eriksen
Son
Nando - Kane
Maybe.

they really only strengthened at FB over the summer, otherwise largely the same team. Silva/DeBruyne is probably the best midfield combo in the prem, and they have had a year under Pep. But they arent unbeatable.

It's just such a shame Wanyama isn't back for this. Wanyama & Dembele of last season would dominate those two. Saying that, Winks and Dembele should be fine against them as at least they will keep the ball.

You're right about their quality though. You can't give those two any time and space on the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if we played 3 in midfield with Alli in there to help close them down.

We will go in hard too. They'll be bookings galore tomorrow. Vertonghen getting a card is a cert.

Man City weakness is their back 4 - tomorrow they will most likely play Walker, Otamendi, Mangala, Danillo/Delph
We cannot out pass them by going toe to toe with them.

We can approach this in 2 ways
a) Set up like we did against Dortmund at Wembley. 10 men in own half & us playing counter. Problem is we lost Toby & Sanchez and have no Wanyama.

b) Stick two forwards to Otamendi & Mangala. I would play Kane & Llorente. When we have the ball, go long bypass their midfield. But when going long, stretch their defense by hitting it long to the sides. This means Walker & Delph could get caught upfield or they have to track back to help out their CBs.

The main advantage we have over City is we are a physical side. So, Make it a physical game.
United tried this way - problem was Lukaku was so bad holding up & linking play. Kane can do this so better.

I had a change of mind.
My new XI : 4-3-1-2

Lloris
Trippier, Dier, Jan, Davies
Eriksen, Dembele, Dele
Son
Kane, Llorente
Like option B. The key to city is how much they compress the pitch of play. In essence playing in your own half and able to win the ball quickly. So I think the long ball approach to by pass their midfield.

Similar to Real away game. We played with two strikers up front.

We can do this, the more I think about this game, the more I believe we can beat them.
