How are his current wages and release clause public knowledge? Where can I find this?
Quite.

What I am somewhat struggling with is how Mr Levy agreed to this clause in the first place.
I know money for players has gone mad, but this was always on the cards and was well reported at least a couple of seasons ago, that there was going to be a big hike financially regarding money spent on players.
Maybe Toby held all the aces last time round, insisting on clause or no deal, perhaps he believes he can continue to hold all the aces this time as a result. I don't think Mr Levy likes losing 2 in a row.
I get that but if more than one club offer the buyout amount it isn't clear that he is the only one with a say on which one we sell to and if we agree to sell to one of them and he rejects it, for whatever reason, has he not made the decision to stay? Also presumably £25 million is the minimum and doesn't rule out higher bids.
Isn't it twice what we paid for him?
We got him for £11m, 4 year contract with a year option where he can leave for £25m. He'd be 30 then. We could sell him now for much more than that.
Fantastic deal by levy.
You could probably count on 1 hand how many CB's earn 150k+. Pretty sure Kompany is the only one at City that does
Not if we want to keep him.

I think the hyper-inflation has caught a few people out. Back then, 85m for Bale seemed a massive amount but now it's bandied around as quite a bargain for a decent player. 25m for a 30 yr old CB would, I imagine, have seemed like a reasonable deal but it looks like chicken feed now.
We can keep him for two years. He might be bought for £25m next summer which is over twice as much as we bought him for, for a 30 year old.
The original deal was a great deal whatever way you look at it. Or do you double your money every 4 years?

Wasn't the Suarez thing that basically Arsenal met the release clause but Liverpool said nope, thus basically breaching the contract and then the onus was on Suarez and his team to take liverpool to court if they wanted to force the move? And Liverpool said they will tie it up in the courts. Eventually he signed a new deal, bit someone and got his move.
I for one minute can't beleive Levy would not have a exit route if it got to the release clause.
Not sure why he's not getting the same amount of hate from fans that Walker did. Guys only been here a few years, been injured most the season, has come back looking disinterested and is in a contract dispute with the club right in the middle of a hugely important time for the club. Yes he's great but there's a slight whiff of arrogance here for me, it's like he thinks he can demand whatever he wants because otherwise we have to sell him below market value next year.
We've coped okay without him, Sanchez will be even better next year. I say sell him for good money in the summer and use it to buy de Ligt. He'll eventually take over from Jan and our CBs is sorted for next decade.
Why would the fans hate him?, everything that had been reported is hear say and conjecture, nothing is confirmed, at the end of the day he's currently a Spurs player so there's no reason to stop supporting him.
Lots of IFs in thatIf we sold him I’m actually really not sure we’d need to buy anyone depending on Dier. If Dier was prepared to play CB and Sanchez and foyth fulfill their potential I’d say we were fine. You also have davies as cover and possibly Ccv to take up the foyth role. Honestly believe Dier could be a top top CB if he focused on that position. Also with the Diawara DM rumours would make sense.
