No way will we spend £200m this summer.

Hence the 'time to put on our big boy pants' comment. Figures of £100-120m before sales going round so a low estimate would put us at circa £160m assuming Toby, Dembele, Llorente, Janssen, N'Koudou all go. £200m is not that far out of reach if that is to be believed. @Hercules seems to think there's money available this summer.

Am I confident in us doing the above? Not at all as there is no precedent, but it's what we should be aiming at.

Based upon my previous posts, and how, it is highly possible! And why it has to remain so, Poch will refuse to extend his contract, and players like Eriksen, Kane and Alli, will not commit to new extensions until Poch does, or promises he will be extending. So if I was you, and any others, you better WISH it is likely and possible.

Always been a fan of Levy and fully appreciate what he’s done for the club over the last 10 plus years. Backed him in numerous conversations and rarely been critical However I am now at a point where this is a make or break moment for the club and we need to do something that will take us to the next level.

Last summer we sold Walker for £50m which covered Aurier and Moura. I don’t want that again this summer. If we get £40m for Toby and say £30m for Rose I want that (or at least the bulk of it) going on one top player. We have squad fillers for raising additional funds but the time has come to do this properly. We have a great 14 or so players, good youth as backups - let’s go out and get someone that is going to push us over the line in games like Saturday and the CL vs Juve.

We beat some big teams in some big games this season but when the pressure / moment has been at boiling point we have fallen short.

Realistic outgoings:
Toby 50mill
Dembele 20mill
Trippier 14mill
Jannsen 10mill
Llorente 7mill
Nkoudou 6mill
Ccv 5mill

Total 112 mill

Plus say a 50mill budget, means a warchest of 160 mill

I'd say that's pretty realistic

Mate, i appreciate all the info you pass on in good faith. But there is no way in hell Levy is going to spend 2/3 of our current annual turnover in the transfer market. Maybe if we had outgoings of £125m or above I could see it, but otherwise, it's fantasy land stuff.

The bit where we need to improve is how we utilise the young players in the squad. Man Utd won the title with the likes of Brown, O'Shea, Cleverley etc. If we can get 5/6 players to step up to the squad, we are able to buy players of better quality as there are less spaces to fill.

Aurier was bought as we were too risk adverse with the transfer window closure a couple of weeks away. KWP could have done the job for us.

2/3 quality players will do nicely with the odd for the future signing thrown in there would be ideal imo.

Based upon the onus that there is 150m available for transfers, plus anything generated from player/sakes (leaked deliberately by the club to the media who cite 120m) it is then very realistic

I don't understand the up-side of deliberately revealing your hand before you enter into negotiations. There's an element of West Ham about declaring that you are going to spend big in the summer just when you have a load of season tickets to sell.

Now that would be a seriously big war chest £150m + outgoing players. :)

I really cannot understand how ignorant people can spam, and find funny. Did I say we would spend 200m? Did I? Not aimed at you Ruffintgepuffin. I said based upon the fact that there is a 120m plus available for purchases, and anything else we generate from player sales. Why on earth is that a spam etc?!!!

LET ME PUT THIS IN CAPITALS!!!

LETS SEE IF THE MAIN PLAYERS EXTEND WITHOUT ASSURANCES FROM BOTH CLUB AND POCH. SEE WHO IS SPAMMING AND LAUGHING THEN!!!

POCH WILL NOT EXTEND HIS CONTRACT UNLESS HE HAS ACCESS TO ANY MONEY BEYOND THE 120m, IF WE GENERATE SALES, AND HE CANNOT USE SAY 60% OF THAT REVENUE.

The club knows how to use spin doctors, and when to leak. Put it that way.

Well, I live to be surprised, so let's hope you're right. But I prefer to go on past behaviour rather than what the club is leaking while they are selling extremely highly priced season tickets for a brand new stadium - let's call it the Arsenal - John Cross - warchest gambit.

Levy's previous behaviour shows no signs of any splurge mentality, so until I see it, I'll be cautiously sceptical, rather than be slitting my wrists on deadline day, when we're told another "big target" moved the goalposts late on, and we're left with a rather modest net spend.

I think your values for Toby and Dembele are very low. I'd expect at least £70m for Toby and £30m minimum for Dembele. Probably more like £40m. We won't sell Trippier for £14m but I'm not sure there's anyone out there that would pay more for him.

Toby can be had for £25m the summer after though, so his value's depreciated slightly. Similar for Dembele. Injury concerns would drive down his price - although if we could manage to flog him to China, maybe we could get £30m.
