I'm not sure about that. So you think that without a pre-season with us it will take them a whole season to find their feet?
Pre-season is more about getting fitness levels back up after the break. I'm sure he will do that anyway even if it's with Villa for a bit. Absolutely it's ideal to get in early and get on the same page as your team mates. But it wont make a great difference, certainly not to the extent it will affect our final finish in the season. Besides I think he'll be more important to us as the season picks up and the cup games come up. By which time he'll have been with us for over a month anyway.
The whole 'pre-season' thing is very strange. I can't see how it makes that much difference. A few kick about games and a training blitz but if a player misses out it seems to be a valid excuse for poor performances for months afterwards. We do however have a few players who really seemed to kick on in their second season.
