Feels a bit like we are wasting him on the bench. With our woes at RB I wouldn’t mind seeing him given a shot there. Especially in tougher games I think his defensive qualities would be a massive plus. He’s faster and taller than trippier and competent enough on the ball going forward. If vertoghen can play LB Foyth can definitely play RB.

I've been thinking the same. He is much better equipped to do a job there than Dier ever was. You'd like to think he'd be more switched on positionally than Walker/Tripps. He's certainly good enough on the ball and the added height would be useful against back post crosses.

Could be a fantastic option for games in which we know we'll need to defend.

When we’ve played a 3 I think he’s played on the right so it’s not much difference. It’s hard to believe he could currently be worse than trippier or Aurier. Although it would be a bit of a kick in the teeth for KWP.

Likewise, I’d be intrigued to see Foyth in the DM role. He’s timing and use of the ball is fantastic. Kind of has a Beckenbaur style about him for those old enough to remember him. Completely trust Poch’s intro of Skipp but Foyth would offer a completely different experience.

It does seem so glaringly obvious to try him at CDM or even CAM. We’ve already seen how much more Winks offers than Dier. Actually think potentially Foyth could offer even more than Winks with his ability to carry the ball and his surging runs. But then you’d lose Winks ability to control a game and set the tempo. Might be interesting to see them as a two. Like I’ve said I just think we need to find a way to get him in the team as he’s being wasted on the bench.

I thought he was brilliant today.

A lot of their tactics in the first half revolved around trying to bully him out of position, which they succeeded in a few times. I think they looked at our three CBs and singled him out as the post inexperienced and easiest to intimidate and distract (perfectly fair and valid thing to do)

Thought he weathered the pressure well, played some good balls and got in to some brave positions.

He’s got a lot of work to do but he’s not scared of taking anyone on or getting in to any position needed. Great player, huge potential, and seems to have the work ethic of the likes of Son and Kane.

Think he’s gonna go far here.

He grew into this game massively and is an undoubtedly talented ball playing centre half.

Reminds me very much of Ferdinand when he was at West Ham - needs to know when to play it simple rather than take on an attacker but he will be slowly but surely forcing his way into being a first team regular and for me will be our future at centre back.

Loved the fact that Dortmund clearly targeted him as a weak link but he kept raising his hand and asking for the ball - think Poch would call him brave :)

He's such a classy defender. Feel as though with him and Sanchez we really hit the jackpot in locating young CBs with incredible potential.

Talk about snapping up players before they become coveted by the big boys, right?

Our scouting really came up for us with these guys.

he sorted himself out after 25 minutes.
Very telling IMO he was able to do that and not buckle under and lose his confidence. Mark of a mentally tough person and his talent is obvious for all to see. Could well become our best player when he has fully developed.
