I predicted that we would lose to Burnley and Chelsea
I predict we will beat the scum and play well
I am worried about Dortmund still.

We've clearly gotten worse off from a squad perspective. At least with Dembele last year he was such a force in the middle of the pitch it covered up some of these defensive holes we have at fullback. Now we consistently struggle to grab hold of a game when it gets away from us with our current midfield pairing. The defense gets bombarded for like a 15-20 min stretch consistently in games.

This. I don't understand why this isn't brought up more often. We sold our best CM (...when fit and in form) in the middle of the season without bringing a replacement in. There were a number of reasons that made that transfer rational - but when actually writing the above it's actually a bit ludicrous.

Pretty insane isn't it?

A bit off topic, but last season we finished above liverpool in all honesty only because they had a champions league final 2 weeks later and they were saving themselves

I would happily drop league position if it meant we had a shot of winning the CL. If we were to make the CL final I would be more happier than finishing 4th.

Just me though, I'm sure the accountants any second now, will tell me about how we need the revenue of CL every year to compete with the other teams:wtf:

You don't need to be an accountant for that...anyone with an extremely basic understanding of maths can tell u that.
Its bafflingly short-sighted.

Equally, winning will help develop your brand and open up more commercially opportunities

Also we are competing with the other teams in the league despite the fact we haven't invested any money in to the squad after securing the CL. We are competing because of our good scouting assembling this squad prior to CL qualification.

You didn't say winning it though...you said having a shot at it (cl final).
I'd take winning it and 5th in the league as it guarantees qualification anyway.

People convinced themselves it was ‘good business’ like we’d see that money again, but it wasn’t ‘good footballing business’.

Feel like people don't realize this. We have 2 more losses than everyone in the top 6. We haven't been great this season and this has easily been the worst football we've played in the last 4 years IMO. Were it not for some late game heroics from Eriksen, Son, etc. we'd pretty easily be out of the top 4.
Very true I think the team including management has lost its identity and forgot what it was good at, at times this season we have looked a mess with the defence a shambles and midfield non existent.

For the first time in a while im genuinely not confident going in to a home NLD.

It's time we show our character. In fairness to Arsenal, they've approached their last few games at home against us as underdogs with a few frailties in the teams and have upped their game immensely to dispatch us, now we need to do the same.

In saying that, I'm much more worried about our potential inability to again not play well more than I am of Arsenal's current form.

I wasn't necessarily talking about winning the CL but winning in general helps build your brand/increase commercial revenue

Eight defeats so far isn't a blip or unlucky that is entering mid table Territory fortunately no draws and along with chelsea, utd and Woolwich not being at their best we to date have got away with it next year we won't be as fortunate.

I posted the below in another thread, and definitely needs to be considered, next season we will go into it very fresh considering, and will depend on activity which you have made it obvious you don't feel will happen

We had 12 players that went to the WC, so no break after last season, only Dembele not on the list below

Hugo (been injured) = 24 PL, - 5 CL, - plus international matches

Trippier (been injured) = 22 PL, - 3 CL, - 2 EFL Cup, - 1 FA Cup, - plus international matches

Rose (been injured) = 17 PL, - 2 CL, - 3 EFL Cup, - plus international matches

Toby = 26 PL, - 6 CL, - 4 EFL, - plus international matches

Jan (been injured) = 15 PL, - 4 CL, - 1 EFL, - 1 FA Cup, - plus international matches

Sanchez (been injured) = 16 PL, - 5 CL, - 4 EFL, - 2 FA Cup, - 1 Int CC, - plus international matches

Dier (been injured) = 15 PL, - 4 CL, - 1 EFL, - 1 FA Cup, - plus international matches

Alli (been injured) = 17 PL, - 3 CL, - 4 EFL, - 1 FA Cup, - plus international matches

Eriksen (been injured) = 25 PL, - 6 CL, - 4 EFL, - 1 Int CC, - plus international matches

Son = 22 PL, - 7 CL, - 4 EFL, - 1 FA Cup, - 1 Int CC, - ASIA games, & Asia Cup, - plus international matches

Kane (been injured) = 24 PL, 6 CL, - 2 EFL Cup, - 1 FA Cup, - plus international matches

if those stats above doesn't prove we have had to change the way we play, or why our season hasn't gone to smoothly then I think too many on here don't understand that these are humans not robots on a computer game. it really has to be taken into account and most probably the reason our game has slowed down (frustratingly) and the high press has dropped

The high press dropped off last season too before the WC so that doesn't answer it well done on the stats front but as we all know figures can be made deceiving.

It's also just fucking bullshit. Liverpool, City, Chelsea, ManU all had players in the World Cup. We've now lost to all of them, why didn't the World Cup stop them from beating us? The excuses are endless.

There are and always have been excuses in regards to either embarrassing defeats or major fuck ups.
We could lose 10- 0 away to grimbsy and someone would say that it's not fair as the wind blows in strong from the north east and the player's are not used to it.;)

Liverpool
Allison = 28 PL, - 7 CL, - international matches
Lovren (been injured) = 9 PL, - 2 CL, - 1 EFL Cup, - 1 FA Cup, - international matches
Alex-Arnold (been injured) = 19 PL, - 6 CL, - international matches (didn't play in the WC)
Henderson = 23 PL, - 5 CL, - 1 EFL Cup, - international matches
Firmino (just injured)= 23 PL, - 7 CL, - 1 EFL Cup(sub), 1 FA Cup(sub), - international matches
Salah = 28 PL, - 7 CL, - 1 EFL Cup (sub), 1 FA Cup(sub), - international matches? not at WC for too long
Mane = 26 PL, - 7 CL, - 1 EFL Cup, , 1 FA Cup, - international matches? not at WC for too long
Shaqiri = 21 PL, - 3 CL, - 1 EFL Cup, 1 FA Cup, - international matches
so Liverpool had 8 at the WC, Salah never played any warm up due to his shoulder, only 3 made the final weekend, 1 never played during the whole tournament and only 64 mins of a warm up. none of them played in the ICC, and haven't really had an injury crisis, or anyone involved in the Asia games/cup

Man C yes equiverlent to us, but a lot stronger in whole squad size, I can't list there players as I don't know who was in and out of squads

Chelsea and Man U had nowhere near as many, we have also beaten United and Chelsea (twice) this season

tell me out of those 4 mentioned who have had anything like us in injuries, or disruption
