POCH EYES CHERRIES Spurs to launch £80m raid for Bournemouth attack duo Brooks and Wilson as part of huge spending spree

Mauricio Pochettino wants both players after getting the green light to overhaul his squad.

TOTTENHAM are eyeing an £80million double swoop for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and David Brooks.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has put the pair on his transfer hitlist as he bids to bolster his squad.

He wants England striker Wilson, 27, to cover for and compete with Harry Kane up front.

Poch is also keen on Wales midfielder Brooks, 21, after getting the green light from chairman Daniel Levy to overhaul his squad this summer.

Wilson has scored 58 goals in 148 appearances and forced his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

He was linked with a £75m January move to Chelsea — but injuries and loss of form mean Spurs are hopeful of landing him for £40m.

Though they face competition for his signature from Everton.

Can’t see it. Going in for Josh King again would make more sense as he’d be cheaper and is more versatile and I don’t want him either. He’d give us pace though and is HG I think.

«cover for Harry Kane» that’s a sentence a striker like Wilson don’t want to hear. Don’t imagine this would happen

This is my best case scenario. Impact player

I'd take Vardy as back up for Harry and i'd look for a young talented player to learn from & eventually push Harry

Everyones baulking at the 80mil price tag, but I honestly don't think that would be considered enough for the pair.

Sturridge on a Bosman would make more sense than Wilson for 40m. Don't know what wages would be involved, but for Sturridge to make any sense at all shows how daft it would be to go for Wilson IMO.

Are you seriously suggesting that a perma-injured 5th or 6th choice for Liverpool would be a better option than a player who has led a premier league attack with such success that he gained international honours this season?

Wilson represents a massive upgrade in class on Llorente. Nothing daft about it at all.

Spending £40m on a backup striker who is still a massive downgrade on Kane when we have several big issues in different positions in the squad and limited funds to address them seems pretty daft to me.

I like Wilson and I do think he'd be a great backup to Kane, but no way would I want to spend that kind of money on him, unless we've already addressed the issues elsewhere in the squad and still have money to burn.

Talk of ‘backup to Kane’ somehow not being important should have been to bed after our league run in this year.
