As far as ive seen there is still no real interest i CE from Real Madrid. Its been quiet all summer. But they can still make a late move i guess.
But,
1. We cant be selling one of our best player now that the window is closed. It would leave a major gap in the squad. 50 mill wont help if we dont make top 4.
2. I would think it would be strange for RM to splash 50 mill on a player they can sign for free i january.
3. Do RM need Eriksen? Is there a place for him? Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Isco and more to choose from. Cant see who they will drop.

Expecting GLC to match Eriksen's proven Prem contribution and output would be a massive weight of expectation on him in his first season, though.

Absolutely. We’ve repeatedly heard Poch talk about players needing several months to settle before they can produce. It’s very rare for foreign players to come in and immediately show their best.

And even if he does, Eriksen leaving means we’ve lost depth in that position immediately.

Only two weeks to go. No strong links from anywhere linking him with a club.

Does he have the motivation to play for us though? Only he knows.

I'm just going by the ITK that if we sold Eriksen we would likely sign two players to replace him as opposed to only straight replacement
ITK consistently said that Ndombele and Lo Celso were not dependant on Eriksen leaving.

It doesn't matter if there are/aren't "strong" links to other clubs. Clubs have no need to negotiate early for Christian Eriksen and are much more likely to come in towards the end of the TW (like we do) if there's any interest at all.

They also don't need to publicise (leak) their interest in him, because he has already made his intentions clear - so the usual media leaks that undoubtedly come from potential buying clubs with the intention of turning player's heads is unnecessary in this case.

They can sit back and wait to enjoy some Levy time, knowing that DL will have to choose between losing CE on a free or cashing in with whatever buying clubs offer.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be a good if not class player for us...regardless if it takes time to settle!

I agree, and although I haven’t seen much of him I have a feeling he’s going to be a good signing. If we want to improve as a squad though we need to add quality, not just constantly replace outgoing key players.

If Lo Celso is Eriksen's replacement then I think we have weakened the squad and not strengthened it

It's far to simplistic to make that call imo. However if he's sold I will be hugely disappointed that we didn't bring in another player of his ilk to add to Lo Celso.

Pretty much EVERY itk stated this to be the case if Eriksen were to leave this window. So either that information was wrong or we failed to complete a deal. Either way it hasn't really been cleared up.

Yup. Our problem last year was not having two Eriksens to cope if one broke down (or even to play at the same time if an abundance of creativity was tactically appropriate). Having Lo Celso and Eriksen in the squad solves this problem, and if Eriksen stays beyond the window (even if only until next summer) then we are covered for this coming season.

If he goes before the European window shuts then we've effectively replicated the problem we had last year and Lo Celso would be the replacement that would have been the first half of an incomplete double signing rather than the addition we needed in the squad alongside Eriksen (or a non-Lo Celso alternative).

What will we do if RM come in with a shitty bid of 20m on the last day of the window? For that sort of price, they may as well take him, and see how he goes. Whether they need him or not.

Is something better than nothing?

No for that money its not worth risking the windfall of champions league qualification money which is what id be suggesting to madrid in terms of covering that potential loss should we sell him.

I dunno about you fellas, but I could see Eriksen as the type to throw a strop and be a bit mardy. Maybe it’s his nonchalant mannerisms. Seems the type that would crinkle his lips and roll his eyes if he didn’t get his own way.

I could be waaaayyy wide of the mark.

I could also be drunk. I’m not. Let’s assume I am, though.

Or worse, what if he crinkled his eyes and rolled his lips instead like a strange, bad Mick Jagger impersonation?

His contract doesn't end in September!

With the risk/reward of CL football or trophy success, it's just not worth selling him for less than £35-40m. He'd cost a top team that in a seasons loan fee. We'll keep him.

It's pure revisionism to suggest we don't need Eriksen but if he is going to go i would rather get a fee for him now than lose him next summer for nothing considering we are already losing Toby on a free next year.

We don't need to replace Eriksen like for like in January (as I don't think we could) but we can use that money to strengthen the team (RB?) to make us better over all.

RB? KWP hasn't put a foot wrong and you want a RB

Yes, Aurier isn't good enough and KWP can't play every game. Im not sure about not put a foot wrong either but he hasn't been too bad. That said I think it's an area we can improve.

Hence why it’s probably best we offload now if we can get some value to reinvest in January. If he stays without signing a new contract I don’t think we’ll be seeing the Eriksen of the 17/18 season unfortunately.

you say that, but if last seasons late form is what have put RM off him this summer, putting in a half hearted full season won't get Madrid signing a 28 year old even on a free

Aurier was either injured or had personal problems last year, still played in 17 of our 59 fixtures and the only error that lead to a goal was trying to clear a ball waist high with his foot instead of heading it. even then there was enough players that could of stopped the Burnley goal

I'd be willing to rotate them until January if he is fit before deciding on him just because he struggled in the 1st season and gave a couple of soft pens away, or are you going to hate Foyth because he gave 2 pens in 1 match
