Discussion on the lower two leagues, as the season progresses.

League One, with the likes of Coventry, Sunderland, Bolton, Ipswich and Wimbledon... has the air of an early 90s Premier league.

League Two, however, is going to be brutal this season. Scunny are in for a hard slog.

It's so sad to see Bolton and Bury in the states they're in. Makes mockeries of both the Fit and Proper test and football club finances in general.

Wycombe have made a good start. They made nine signings and only lost Jason McCarthy of their starting XI last season, yet were favourites to drop after Bolton and Bury. As long as Ainsworth stays in charge that's not gonna happen. Up the Blues!

My lad went with his granddad to watch Cambridge v Newport on Saturday.
Bear in mind that I took him to our game against Inter, guess which team he is now planning on going to watch more frequently...

Little sod had a point (based on the Inter game and our first half v Villa) but he's lucky I let him back in the house.
He's up for some proper punishment if he keeps going to watch Cambridge - two 0-0 draws so far!

First football match I was ever taken to was Scunny V Cambridge, in the 80s. Finished 0-0, with a red card on each side.

Not sure where I'm going with that, but there you are.

Tomorrow evening's match between Bolton and Doncaster has been called off.
Bolton have been fielding their academy so far this season, including the 5-0 hiding on Saturday at Tranmere.
Medical team have deemed it detrimental to their welfare and development to play again midweek, so game has been called off.

Meanwhile Bury had their fifth consecutive fixture postponed due to ongoing financial issues.
They have 4 days left to convince the EFL that they can fund the season ahead. Failure to meet that deadline and they will be expelled from the league.

Sad state of affairs and I'd like to think that some premier league players, who have come up through those lower level ranks, could probably club together a week's wages and clear all those club debts. Won't happen though...

I bang in about them alot, but Scunny are slowly dying a death as well.

One week's round of wages from the PL would sort football in this country out.

Mind you, you could probably fix third world hunger and debt with most PL clubs wage bills.

Yeah, if every PL player donated a week's wages we could do a lot more good than just fix a few football clubs' finances.

Bolton should have been bought out by now and on the mend if it weren't for that absolute **** Bassini getting all prickly after his bid in the spring was rejected and filed an injunction against the new prospective buyers.

But sad to say it, Bury are fucked. Even if they get bought out now it's probably too late to avoid expulsion. The best they can hope for is for the club not to fold completely. Sad times.

Bolton has to be docked points, surely? Postponing a match with a day's notice without first informing the EFL and the opposition club has to be punished.

They've already been docked 12 but yeah this might well see them docked another three.

Why stop at the players, include the agents who just take money out of the game. Just 0.5% of their fees to set up a ‘lifeboat fund’ for clubs who hit hard times. (My in-laws are all Bolton fans)

If something isn't done sharpish, Scunny are going to be playing non-league in a years time.

Watched chunks of the game against Cambridge.
Stats wise it was like us vs Man City! S'thorpe had 3 shots, 2 of which went in, while Cambridge had 25+ shots.
Cambridge were bookies favourites to be relegated before the season started.

Its such a brutal league.

Its all about putting a run together. 2 or 3 wins/defeats can affect the players performances drastically.

At the moment, this is the worst I've seen Scunny in 25 years.

Pretty much saying there's only 1 group that satisfied criteria. They are still likely going to go into liquidation with league membership being revoked. Feel awful for Bolton and Bury supporters. The clubs they know and loved all their lives will likely cease to exist within 24 hours. Can you imagine how they feel right now?

The EFL needs to shape up its ownership approval process. It's a joke. How these people and Villa's old owner actually passed the fit and proper testing is beyond me. For fucks sake, there was proof even before Xia took over VIlla that he didnt have much funding for the club. The only reason Villa survived is because they managed to find a new buyer so early(Villa was also PL fuck up though, to be fair). The EFL has to be held responsible for having 2 long time member clubs that could very likely fold on the same day. It's shameful.
