Peak Kane
Dier Dembele
Alli Eriksen
Kane
or
Wanyama Dembele
Alli Eriksen Son
Kane
Poch needs to start thinking about how he can get the best out of Kane, not how to fit Lucas or Son in. Replicate what we had before.
I agree with a lot of the posts on here. He does look less effective than in his peak seasons and he doesn't run as much. What I will say is that I don't believe for a second that he's become lazy. He's a bit of a victim of his own success these days. Teams are dropping deep and denying us the space to run into. Poch needs to work out how to get the best out of him in those circumstances. To be fair signing Ndombele and Lo Celso is obviously part of the plan so we'll have to wait and see how that works out. Kane's also always been the guy that buys into the managers plans so if he's not running and pressing as much I assume that he's following instructions. He's still a supremely gifted player though and I don't think anyone can question his commitment to the club, but we definitely need to get him more involved.
Sadly, the double marking isn't happening like it used to, because he ain't moving like he used to when he was dragging defenders all over the issue. They didn't know whether to stay close or drop off, because he could turn and move in a flash, or create a foot of space to get off a crazy, powerful shot from any angle, or pass to another attacker in wide open space just because he dragged 3 defenders out of position. Defender's nightmare! And they had to deal with that all game!Kane gets double marked now the defenders are literally hsnging off is back in games. I do believe refs are harsh on him for some reason. Every player in that team need to step up.
Did Harry have one decent pass or cross he could use yesterday ? Poor sod was left all on his own until Eriksen moved up alongside him late in the second half.
We need to get him back as the focal point with Dele as close to him as possible. When that happens, watch the goals flow again.
So many people underestimate Dele's clever movement as well.
That opens up space as he drags defenders out of position.
