Man Utd did it all the time. That's what Fergie time was... Commit loads of little fouls, send the ball out of touch, moan to the ref... Build up the extra time as much as possible in case you need it.

Funny, however I must take issue with this as Utd/City is not one of the biggest rivalries in world football. City made a banter billboard to try and whip it up for god's sake.. how very West Ham.

True, it kind of misses the point.

I have always believed an intentional foul should be an automatic booking.

Teams have learnt a free kick on the halfway line is much better for the defending team than allowing a counter attack.

We do it well as do City.

Vieira trademark.

Liverpool too. It’s in the article.

Every team does it regardless of whether the article mentions it or not. Up to a point I think it's just part of the game to be honest. Obviously there are some teams who do it excessively though.

Lol they were pretty fucked defence-wise before his injury, but now...

Walker also supposed to still be struggling big time and Cancelo might be starting over him soon.

Guess they’ll be splashing obscene money again come January...

Poor planning though as they don’t seem to have much cover at all at centre back and recent analysis has shown Stones and Otamendi don’t play that well as a combination.

Guardiola doesn’t seem to be able to balance his squad well as same with left back where they only had Mendy at one point and he was then out all season (and arguably he’s not that good considering the cost).

Looking at their squad he only seems to have three senior centre backs unless I’m missing someone? All clubs should have at least four if not five centre backs in squad.

It looks like either Walker or Fernandinho will be playing at centre back soon. It's really surprising that they didn't address the CB position after Kompany left. I thought they might come in for Toby in the summer as he seemed like an obvious improvement at a knockdown price, but I guess they weren't interested. It's really odd that Guardiola has moaned about players being too expensive when it's teams like City that have helped to inflate prices, by overpaying for players in the past.

I've just been looking at their fixtures and based on current form there's nothing coming up in the league that would worry them too much until November. Their Champions league group isn't the most difficult one either :

Today Shaktar Donetsk (A)
21/9 - Watford (H)
28/9 - Everton (A)
1/10 - Dinamo Zagreb
6/10 - Wolves (H)
19/10 Palace (A)
22/10 Atalanta (A)
26/10 Villa (H)
2/11 Southampton (H)
6/11 Atalanta (H)
9/11 Liverpool (A)
23/11 Chelsea (H)

They always seem to get a dead easy group in the CL.

Meanwhile this article made me laugh. Like you said about Guardiola moaning about players being too expensive above, City always seem to plead poverty when they’ve been one of the biggest factors in price and wage inflation over the last decade.

Perhaps if they hadn’t spent sixty million on Mahrez to sit on their bench, then they’d have been able to squeeze a centre back into their FFP equations.

They definitely got lucky with the draw this time, but being a seeded team in Pot one for the draw means that you're almost certain to go through unless you're very unlucky with the draw. I'd love to see an unseeded draw where the only restriction is that you can't have two sides from the same country, but obviously then you'd risk one of the big clubs going out at an earlier stage which would cost UEFA money so they obviously won't do it.
