2 years ago this weekend we smashed Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley. We were 7 pts above them after 9 games in 3rd. While they languished in 9th. That on top of a whole decade being above them bar 1 season. Whoever is to blame its gross incompetence they are now so far ahead of us.

Sadly but true. All we need to stay in the race, not despair, be strong and invest wisely.

Guys i honestly believe Poch has been saying these things to put pressure on Levy to back him and put money into the team. Not saying it was the right thing to do but i think he felt he had no other leverage on our Daniel. Daniel im afraid whilst you have delivered an amazing stadium it really will be futile if you dont have the team to play in it. Feel for Poch he in a no win situation.

When you look at those placings (I know each season has a different set of circumstances) but we really should be the kind of club that is appointing a manager who has a pedigree of getting his teams over the line and winning championships. No more project managers, they arent going to do it. We need a big, proven winner now. Nothing else will do if we want to be as big a club as we all want us to be.

its not going to be a manager of any credit to get us over the line, until we can bring in a squad to compete, yes we had a great 1st 11-13 players those 2 years of wonderful flowing football but we never had a really good 20 players like City do, or an injury free season like Leicester, Chelsea and even Liverpool last season.

if people honestly believe bringing in a manager like Mourinho will start producing trophies then I will totally disagree. Mourinho might have won trophies with Man U, but winning the coc was so lucky, with VAR a good chance Southampton would have won that. he faltered in the CL, and took the Europa a lot more serious than Poch, but had a bigger squad with Man U. with 11-13 players in the run in, it's very hard to rotate

It's just circumstantial. They haven't played in 3 stadiums in almost as many years.

We needed a new stadium for various financial and commercial reasons, so it was inevitable that we'd end up in that sort of situation. There's a good chance we can be more comfortable in the upper financial echelons of the league with that change.

They have also been much more fortunate in their dealings. They got silly money for Coutinho, then paid silly money (at the time) for VVD and it worked out. I can't think of the last time they paid good money for a player and it didn't work out. I'm not 100% sure that's down to scouting, and more so that they are on a bit of a lucky streak with their recruitment.

As much as I hate their fans, you have to applaud the club for the way they've improved. Difference beast to the previous owners. You wouldn't think any club would be doing what they are doing to City, considering their resources and staff.

I think the whole system at our club needs to be looked at again. And maybe possibly Poch has been given too much say in all things. The Youth teams and development seem to have stagnated - which is key to our future. The transfer policy and recruitment has been somewhat lacking - apart from the summer purchases although they again could have been brought in earlier, Ndombele aside.. The scouting is obv an issue, what’s the point having a scout recommend players if the manager has the ‘I ONLY want De Jong’ kind of attitude?.. Poch doesn’t have a great track record with picking players, in fact I’d say Levy has spotted much more successful transfers..If Poch has de-notes himself back to coach, then we should be listening more to the scout, and try a DOF again.

what point would it of been bringing in Lo Celso and Sess earlier, both played in summer tournaments 1 come back injured and is close to making his debut, the other was involved in a tournament, and joined us a week after he finished his holiday

Well theyre also far ahead of arsenal, Chelsea and United who were far ahead of them too.

So maybe they're all incompetent?

Or the actual reality that unfortunately klopp and their owners have done an incredible incredible job on that club, so much so that even the cheat code club can't match them anymore

Cue the headline: "Cagey Poch refuses to rule out Kane transfer to Man Utd in January"

Cue the headline: "Under fire Poch refuses to look at transfers until its too late"

The alternative story is that perhaps he's had a sit down with Levy and/or the Players and his week in Qatar has given him a renewed belief and drive that he can take it back to basics and make things work so he's trying to avoid talk of instability or transfers or change by saying "No, i don't want signings I want what I have got and we'll make it work together" - The players could feel enthused by that and confident that he trusts them again.

two sides to a coin

3 sides on this coin, since his "we wil make changes in January" the players/agents we have been in talks with have since told us they don't want to move in January

That Brighton game I’m so used to us dominating these teams only time I’ve seen worse was Newcastle game
Man City dominated us last couple of seasons but we still gave them a game most seasons if not give them a bloody nose.
Somethings very wrong and it feels like it’s over, players get managers the sack. He needs to be brave and fuck off all the players that ain’t gonna be there next season.
Painful changes? well he wasn’t kidding do it Poch bring in the kids if you have too.
It’s the only way he’s got a chance but if they lose a few we’re so used to being up there fans won’t stand for it don’t think he will do it. Eriksen drop him we lose our best midfielder and struggle without him.
Fuck them off not even in the squad make a stand if you’re not committed then go away gardening leave whatever.
Don’t put them on the bench nothing
Be brave Poch take the stick but do something for fuck sake and explain why these players ain’t playing.
Cut out the rotten bit all of them, he done it before
Time to do it again, brave a word he likes to use well fucking practice what you preach otherwise you’re fucked mate

And times like this when his presser was driving the fuck out of us the other PR side of the club shows the unity and happy Poch with the lads at training.

Imagine we lost to Watford tomorrow.. ?

They have a better manager and have received some incredible transfer fees, which they invested very wisely. It’s really that simple.

The scouting there is a different league to what we have at our club it seems.

Remember we almost had Mane but ended up with Sissoko...I mean, looking back that just looks ridiculous.

He needs to get the players pressing from the front and working harder. I’m just reading an article on The Athletic (it’s about Arsenal actually but applies to us) about a lack of closing down in attack that leads to the team conceding more shots on goal and being less defensively sound. We laughed last season about Arsenal being bad defensively but we’ve turned into them now. Theyve conceded on average 17 shots on goal per game bring the 18th worst in the league for it. Guess who are 17th?

Either the players aren’t working hard enough (Kane) or the tactics are wrong and we need to return to closing teams down more. Or the players aren’t following instructions.

I personally think this current squad just doesn’t have the right personnel to be an aggressive high pressing team. We’ve got experience players, but a lack of fresh legs. The best use would be to be a Conte or Allegri-style Juve team. Sit lower, soak up pressure and hit teams on the counter.

If Poch isnt ruthless here, he’ll have to go. This is the chance to be ruthless and drop players from the 18 who dont have a future here.

That´s not the most important part, the results is. Losing to Watford with Skipp and Tanganga isn´t better than winning with Eriksen and Vertonghen.

A lot of fans seems to think all will be good when a couple of players leave the club. I think there is more concerns over Pochs performance than that.
