Certainly has shown an eye for a pass, gets forward we’ll, but his fitness levels and defensive work are shocking. God knows what we have here. Could be great, could be a liability.

Needs to play in a midfield 3 with a holding midfielder behind him. Can't wait to see him alongside Lo Celso.

I don’t think he’s a CM at least in a 2 Or if he is then needs a very strong DM beside him. For me he’s an AM. Just let him get on the ball and do stuff. In a way imo he’s capabilities are very close to Eriksen in what he can do and where he can play. Saying that he was definitely trying much harder on Tuesday than he was yesterday.

He looks very lazy off the ball. Stood still for a lot his 45 minutes .
But he's struggling with the pace, and being asked to play in a set up which is asking way too much of him right now. Seems crazy to me, the space he's having to cover, when he clearly isn't up to it.
tbh though, none of our midfielders are up to it. So playing in a system that requires a couple of Kante's, is making it tough.

He commitment has been questioned in the past by former coaches. Also could have a weight issue but if pochs training and fitness regimes are as tough as made out this should not be a problem.

Are there people out there who’s cup of tea isn’t midfielders who can make amazing through balls from deep and score goals?
Not what I meant and you should know it from my posts about him.. He looks very lethargic in his running and appears to just meander through games at times.

Excellent game from him tonight. His passing from both deep and when he breaks the midfield are brilliant. So incisive and into the space that allows the player to run onto it. Didn’t look tired at all either which is a positive.

Scousers FB will leave a lot of space behind. If he can pick out son or Lamela with one of those coverdrive through balls he can play we might be able to trouble them.

His passing is so crisp and precise and makes it look so easy. Gets himself into position so quickly to enable himself to get the pass away. Once he is up to speed and we see him carrying the ball forward, this guy can be an absolute monster for us.

I think we have to give him time though. As a comparison, Fabiano didn't start regularly getting into and performing in the Liverpool team until December as he was struggling with the fitness levels and pace of the game here before then.

Thought he was superb tonight. Changes defence into attack so quickly. Strikers will run into space when he has the ball where other midfielders can spend hours playing it sideways. The key will be who we play alongside him ? Exciting player
