Well that was sort of my point? Why is Jan allowed to be shit yet Toby not? In the games I feel Jan has far the poorer attitude and far worse performed
The fact is Sanchez plays better on the right of Jan than he does either side of Toby. We’ve got to rebuild his confidence for the future.

The most ineffective Liverpool have been in a big game for a long time, was against MU who played a back 3 with the Wb's stopping Robertson and Trent and no.10 Pereira stopping the supply through Fabinho..

So i wouldn't be against something similar with Dele playing the Pereira role.

I get we are better when we play 4-2-3-1...but on this occasion i would consider the 3-5-2 , forget it was crap against Watford at home..
Yes 4-2-3-1 was great tuesday and i would play it 99% of our games, but Liverpool away is that 1% when we should consider 3-5-2 to stop them.
People may say we should attack them, and i am being negative, i say if we go toe to toe with them we will probably get done.

Gazza

Foyth Sanchez Jan

Aurier Ndombele Dele Sissoko Rose

kane Son

You're 100% correct about Dele, a similar role to one he's played against City in the past very effectively.

I'm all about sticking with the 4-2-3-1 though, and Dele can play the Fabinho marking role in that as no.10.

Gazzaniga
Aurier Sanchez Jan Davies
Sissoko Ndombele
Lamela Dele Son
Kane
That's what I would do. Son will either occupy TAA or exploit is lack of discipline. Without the ball Son presses TAA. With the ball Dele and Kane run hard left into the Robertson channel.

Without the ball Sissoko is charged with making life hard for Robertson while Lamela makes life difficult in a more central role just ahead of Sissoko's starting role here. If you want to take a massive risk (I don't) play Lo Celso instead of Lamela and have him press Robertson into submission as he's quicker than Lamela.

If only football was played out on a sheet of paper. In theory it looks great. In reality maybe a different story

I think keep it solid with Son and Lucas running from deep to link with Kane.
Both have speed and energy to press.. Davies and Aurier to play conservatively because of the
Liverpool Fullbacks...
Sissoko Winks and NDombele should be able to battle the Liverpool CMs with protection from Son and Lucas on the flanks

Gazzaniga
Aurier Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Lucas Sissoko Winks Ndombele Son
Kane

Vorm
Lo Celso
Lamela
Alli
Sanchez
Rose

No tactical changes stick with the 4-2-3-1.

When we've got a bit of confidence back we can look at tactical tweaks in certain games until then just stick to what we know works. Hopefully not but I'd take a defeat in this one as long as there is a performance in there.

I'd prefer to mirror their setup which I'd imagine will be 433. Don't want spare players floating around in areas we don't have adequate cover in. I'd start Dier, assuming he's fit (?), so that we have some DM cover but he can also drop into a back 3. Dele misses out for me from the CL team but makes a tasty option to have on the bench.

LOL at anyone saying we should drop Sissoko - one of our most consistent, hard-working and important players.

Same as Tuesday please.

I can see the point for playing the same team, they all did well, but although we started with 4-2-3-1, I would say we played the majority of the match in a fluid 4-3-3, certainly when Dier came on later we did. I like that flexibility between the two systems. Ndombele (turning and breaking the press then the through balls will cause Liverpool nightmares), Dele (whether playing off Kane or dropping in to midfield, or man marking Fabinho is a flexible boost to our style), and the DM ( I’d be tempted to go with Dier, he did well when he can on the other night, and although Siss was also very good, I’ve noticed him not closing down diagonal crosses from the guy infront of him a few times this season and again the other night. Maybe that lack of defensive nous will catch us out against ‘Pool) role are key to this game.
I’d like to see Moura and Son in the wing places, but that is very harsh on Lamela. Difficult decisions to be made but I’d stick to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 as that seems to be a comfortable place for our squad.

Same as Tuesday, if for no other reason than those boys worked hard enough to earn another start.

And anyone calling for Winksy, after seeing what a proper forward-thinking midfielder like NDom gives us, needs a brain scan stat. Just MHO.
