Lamela is not perfect and has weaknesses eg goals, gives the ball away etc but he more than makes up for them imo. He always works hard, that is a given, but it is infectious. The amount of times he has come on and turned a performance around simply by getting the crowd and players going. Whether it's a tackle, closing down, a clever pass or one of his 'never actually looks in complete control or able to get away from a player but somehow manages to hold on to the ball and find a pass' runs, he can turn a game.

On top of all of that he has qualities that nobody else in the squad has.

At the moment, he needs to start.

He works so hard but unfortunately the quality of other teams has moved onwards and upwards. Would he get in to Man City or Liverpool's team or squad? Probably not. Lack of pace, one footed, lack of goals, poor decision making, lack of strength in power of passing or shooting etc. Unfortunately we don't have a DoF to move such admirable and long-serving players on at the right time.

Jordan Henderson wouldn't get into a lot of other teams either, what you need to look at is what's important for us and at the moment he is proving his importance.

Yes he's proving his importance in the same way that Sissoko did last season - surprising many of us. The point is that we should have moved on a while ago from such players.

I'm sure if he wasn't he would have been gone, we gave him a new contract when we could have easily told him to find a new club, point is that Poch obviously values him which is why he was kept around.

Agree. If everyone had his attitude we would be title winners.

Injured thigh in training the other day

?️ Mauricio on @ErikLamela: "He suffered a small problem with his thigh yesterday in training. This morning he was checked by the doctor and the decision was made that he couldn’t be involved. We hope it’s not a big issue."

Hence why he should have been moved on. We don't have space for crocs (Lamela) or players who can't be bothered to play for the shirt (not Lamela). They need to be moved on - even at a loss.

I hate those hideous plastic sandals too but what does that have to do with Lamela?

Really? Why can't you wait at least until they inform us whether he has received a season ending injury or something else until making such claims?

We have a lot of fully qualified doctor's on SC, thought you knew that already.
