But no one has compared him to pirlo hmmmm ? At least come back with correct statements mate !!

Because people are talking about comparative play styles not suggesting he will reach the same levels. If you're gonna go on a rant calling people fanboys the least you could do is grasp the points they're trying to make.

Can't come back to the rebuttal which says everything about your argument, you're here to troll - have fun sir.

I like him, but he’s the one who is dropped if we buy and play with a DM unless we play with a midfield three

So you want me to debate that even though your main point is incorrect and he has been compared to pirlo ? Nothing to debate there my friend I’m certainly not here to troll ! I think winks is a good player but nothing more

It’s still a comparison though simple

Poch has barely ever used a 4-3-3 formation, i'd like to see a new coach come in and go with it and i'd like to see Winks used as an 8 within that. As a DM he is competent but he doesn't quite have the physicality to master the role in the Premier League.

With a bit of coaching on the attacking side he could be an excellent option as an 8. It also might mean that we replace Eriksen with a defensive midfield player rather than another playmaker. The options could be these:

New DM/Skipp
Ndombele/Sissoko------------Lo Celso/Winks

Not forgetting Alli who could easily play that 8 role too, I think there's more than enough creativity there to be able to cope without Eriksen. And a proper DM anchoring should help us to be more defensively robust. The missing piece of the jigsaw would then be marauding full backs on either side to take advantage of the cover available behind them.

I’ll stick to the fan boys tbh ! They seem to like to abuse or mock anyone who try’s to say winks isn’t pirlo reincarnated so I’ll stick to using it. Also I see not one person has actually came out with an argument that he is just a good player who should be no more than a squad player and would rather talk about me calling the winks lovers winks fan boys and that says it all really ?!
I have not heard a single person put Winks on level with Pirlo.

You are just looking to divide people into rating a player as a star or shit with nothing in between.

It’s just pathetic.

For me, Winks is a fantastic player to have in the squad who simply is not being used correctly by the manager. He's put in fantastic performances in some of the club's biggest matches in recent seasons and is a perfect option to have to keep Ndombele and Lo Celso on their toes and performing, as well as being able to rotate and keep those two fresh.

But he's never in a million years a player who has the positional sense, physicality, and ball-winning ability to effectively shield the back line and win the physical battle in midfield. He shouldn't be sitting at the base of midfield except perhaps in matches where we know that the opposition is only going to park the bus and not look to battle us in central areas, but even then I think I'd prefer to have a real DM who can provide cover for counterattacks.

Good player but the manager is setting him up to fail currently.

Good post, seems Poch trusts certain players and will shoehorn them into positions they really aren’t suited to rather than the alternative which in this case might have been putting some faith in Skipp and developing his game. Instead the perceived safe option which has predictable results. Would Skipp have done a worse job? Who knows but it was reasonably foreseeable that Winks is not a DM.

I like Winks a lot as I feel he's a very useful player, I also recognize we probably have better midfielders than him. These two things can both be true.

No I wasn't doing that, more an observation that even Pirlo had the muscle to do his dirty work in midfield! More a commentary on how unbalanced we are.

I already explained that to him mate it was obvious. The fact you was responding to a post about the role he played more than spelt out you were just looking at the style of play.

I don't get why people have turned on him tbh. Imo his had one terrible half against BM. I also feel his been completely let down by our poor CB and full back.
