Yeah, well if opposition fans are sprouting off about how this is going to end up in tears, then I think they're masking their true feelings. Esp fans of Utd, Pool, City, Arse, and Chelsea. I think the majority of which are silently a little concerned about this hiring. They know our team in woefully underperforming. They know how good we are when we on top of our game. They also know that this Jose chap has pretty good track record when it comes to winning things. They also know that hiring him is a HUGE statement of intent by the club. They may want to pretend it's a disastrous hire. But I bet those sprouting off the loudest are shitting their pants the most.

I had a PSV fan giving it about Maureen today. Saying that he won't help. I asked how they were getting on the Champions League?
His reply was not suitable for youngsters ears, so Hank time to log off.

In the pubs they are all talking about us. They all have their half-baked take on it all but the underlying impression I get is that they are scared. One just said we want 'Christian' Bale back and we can't afford it and we'll go down the toilet...

I'm over this after 72 hours. It seems they are not. Love it. ?

I'll be watching through closed hands, behind the sofa, in another room, with the sound turned whilst drinking 2 bottles of finest Claret.

True to form, he is going to keep faith in Roberto in goal. This man takes stubbornness to a whole new level

I don’t know Puff. His style to me has been to completely drop a number of players from the squad in his spell here.

It is a strange one though because this keeper has clearly seen better days. Let’s at least hope the midfield and defence turn up this week. That would at least give the keeper a chance. Whilst the keeper should perhaps be dropped based on form, in my view the greater crimes are being committed by those swinging the lead. But because they did not punch the ball in the net they are not so much under the microscope. The real cancer is the outfield players if you look deeper.

Think he’s caught between a rock and a hard place with the keeper situation.. I think he has to persevere with Roberto. For me the call is the keepers to make and sure Pelle has approached it as such. If Roberto feels right I’d go with it. It’s a confidence thing for me, if it were solely based on performance we’d be fielding a team of two!! As others have said there are many others who are just as culpable but their mistakes are obviously less noticeable !!!!

looks like noble will make it and Antonio to. Antonio on the bench for me and noble starts. there is no real alternative to Roberto . martin is a practice keeper only ? anang is too young and inexperienced. what a state of affairs. fabianski really does hold this team together.

in defence surely ogbonna will be back and masuaka ?

we also need to play someone up top with haller to get him in the game.
so a slightly changed team from what I was predicting last time out.
I would like us to play 442 with yarmo up top with haller and Anderson playing as a right side midfield.
roberto
fredericks diop ogbonna masuaka
anderson noble rice anodgrass
yarmolenko haller

subs martin cresswell balbuena antonio ajeti fornals wilshere

surely they will try fo this one ? can only see a defeat but I live in hope. come on west ham wake up !

Dreading this game so much. Does anyone have any hope we'll get a result? I know you can't predict this fixture, but I honestly cannot see anything other than a Tottenham win tomorrow.

We will do well to keep it to just a 3 goal defeat.

The best thing to do this weekend is to avoid Match of the Day. ‘Squeaky’ Lineker will have them first on and personally interview Jose about how many trophies he can win them!

Weird they are so pessimistic. I’m far from convinced we will win.

Why was it he had to do that? The papers have made a big thing about him being able to live in his house in London now, so why couldn't he do that before?

I suppose he could have done. I know Harry Redknapp commuted from his house in Sandbanks to us, but Manchester is quite a lot further and probably a lot more traffic. And he clearly didn’t want to relocate his family.

It's not a myth. Football doesn't reduce to what rival premier league fans thinks
I can assure you we were admired in several parts of the world, by a lot of people
Conversely I know loads of Chelsea fans in Brazil and I always meet Arsenal fans wherever I go. All talking about admiration for Wenger, Lampard, etc etc.

It baffles my mind why but proves that people admire successful clubs just as well.

I've also had non-Brits refer to Spurs as a 'nice' club. Fuck that, I want people saying we're a GREAT CLUB

I don't agree but even if I did - the point is who cares?

Football isn't a popularity contest and there isn't a Most Popular Club trophy.

I want to win stuff and I couldn't care less what other people think of us.

As I said to another poster, you must care, otherwise you wouldn't be entering a thread like this one. You entered the thread to know what opponent thinks but then you don't care.

I never said it mattered btw. Just pointed out what a lot of people think.
I can assure you though that Levy cares about popularity. There's money in being popular. Besides being popular/liked is not mutually exclusive with being successful

These people always end up with egg on their faces.

I used to work with a Leeds fan who was joking about AVBs appointment and everytime we talked about football he'd mock me about AVB saying we'd be fighting relegation. Suffice to say he wasn't saying anything by spring time. Luckily I left before the second season.

My gooner cousin relentlessly posts jokes and memes whenever something bad happens with us, even a defeat after a winning streak. Then Arsenal go and get beat hilariously or do something worse.

It's mental how these people never learn and can't help themselves.
A Leeds fan? Bearing in mind their recent history and the fact that they pretty much provided us with a first XI of players, that should have been like shooting fish in a barrel.

We've tried the admiration/nice guy route for the last 5 years, and its ended fruitless with us looking like we're going backwards.
I don't think Levy can be blamed for taking a different approach, in fact I think it should be admired.
To Dare is to do and all that.

agree, although my only caveat would be if we don’t back him in the transfer market. Otherwise it’s a bit pointless.

They're both intelligent men, Levy knows what Mourinho is like and vice versa.
I would hope this sort of thing would've been discussed at length during negotiations and agreements made, otherwise as you say its pointless and neither of them will come out of it with any credit.
