Seriously Poch. How hard was it to play Moura on the right?

Mental!
Honestly poch is a funny one, lucas wasn’t really his choice but more so the scouting departments, he’s not poch’s kind of player, poch wants n.o 10’s and overlapping fullbacks not players with pace.

lucas will be a regular starter under Jose especially for the counter attacks.

The biggest takeaway for me so far (albeit 1 game) is that Mourinho is not making things more complicated than they need to be. Comments came out from him about talking to players about how they want to play and I think judging from that first Starting XI he’s really taken that to heart. Just put these really talented players in their favored positions and then figure out the tactical portion as you go. Guess that’s a sign of a really aware and seasoned coach.

He rarely performed from the start there though. He was shit against Everton for example.

And Newcastle but how much of that was down to tactics or not I don't know. Moura rarely grabbed his chance when given the start but he also didn't have the opportunity to do so with any regularity.

Quite so, quite so. I feel like I've been on a mini Lucas crusade here on SC all season, but not without reason. It's evident that it's not lack of quality that kept him out of the team. Yet another player that simply wasn't in the inner circle of Pochettino. He was probably gutted after the CL final. I never understand it when coaches don't play goal scorers.

In the prem, he scored 10 in 2128 mins
So a little bit more seldom than every 2nd match in a season where he was asked to inconsistently cover at least 4 different positions. Not too shabby. Again, why not play a goal scorer? It's good for the team, good for the job security, good for the fans.

In the first half of last season Lamela was one of our best players in fairness. Kane up front is a given. So is Son on the left. Lucas and Lamela rotated on the right.

Not saying there were bad reasons for those choices, but looking at this stats taking into account that he wasn't nailing one spot as "his" for whatever rationale, I think his stats aren't too shabby. Now, we'll play more direct, less building from the back, which is a good thing for him.

Poch never trusted Moura, anyone saying different is rewriting history.

He was used as a bit part player, let's not forget Poch failing to start Moura when we desperately needed pace in attack earlier in the season.
