A loan is what he needs. Wouldn't want to see him let go permanently just yet.

If he could go out and get 15 games this season, and then 30 next season on loan he could come on leaps and bounds.

Exactly. And nobody thinks Winks can play the DM role, then why Foyth?

think people confuse being good on the ball for a centre back with being good enough on the ball to play in midfield. i remember sergio ramos looking completely out of his depth when asked to play there away to juve a few years ago and he's one of the best ball-playing centre backs of his generation. it's one thing seeing everything in front of you and stepping out with the ball but it's another thing entirely when you're receiving the ball with your back to play and being closed down from all angles.

foyth does have something so i wouldn't want us to lose him but like most young players, he needs to be playing to learn. i do think jose's treatment of him has been a bit harsh if he's ditched him off the back of the norwich goal. it was a poor mistake but alderweireld didn't exactly cover himself in glory either and vertonghen's play for pukki's non-goal was even worse, both are massively experienced and playing every week so they should have no excuses whereas with foyth he's still learning whilst only getting the occasional outing here and there.

FWIW I still think there is a proper footballer hidden in there somewhere and I think it will be a huge regret along the line if we let him go....but I have been wrong before ??

Foyth makes mistakes but Toby, Verts, Rose and most of all Aurier have made a tonne of mistakes too. So rather than play these people with limited capacity to improve, why not play Foyth? Beggars belief that Aurier has played so much.

Agree. Feel like letting him go now would be a touch premature. Points during the final weeks of Poch’s tenure where I’d have liked to have seen more of him and my gut feeling is that he has much more to give. Just needs a good run and a few kinks to be ironed out (rash challenges) - preferably on loan somewhere

I've been bagging this drum for over a year now...as Le Parisien said Rose Toby Jan (Lloris) make a ton of mistakes yet nobody seems to see them or really call it out. Our defence has been total shameful for over a calendar year, guess who's been the main stays.

Sanchez Foyth is an interesting partnership both have a mistake but both are excellent pure defenders ie very difficult to beat one on one with games together those mistakes will be better managed.

Foyth will join that elite list of players Mourinho bins off who go on to be world class.
As opposed to Poch having him around the squad for three years barely getting a run of games when playing constantly is crucial to a young players development.

But yeah let's blame the guy who's been in charge for 5 mins

That might have something to do with Toby and Verts being one the best defensive partnership on the planet 3 years ago.
Something you've conveniently omitted from your opinion.

Not even on the bench today. Clearly being frozen out. Massive shame that we'll inevitably lose someone of his quality. He's still only 21 and is no worse than the other more experienced defenders ahead of him.

Mourinho's picked on a young player who he knows is not established enough to make a fuss. He's done this before at other clubs and has done nothing to suggest he's changed one bit. Foyth is just the beginning.

Tanganga should be given Foyths game time for the rest of the season and Foyth sent on loan.

Agreed, unless we sell Vertonghen (and switch to a back 3 permanently) Foyth should get a loan. I think he still has a lot of potential to prove himself and iron out his mistakes if he gets a run of games. Mourinho said he sees something in him himself.

Should be loaned out for playing time. Evaluate the loan spell and see how he does in pre season before making a decision.

Haven't conveniently left anything out.

The fact of the matter is Poch is responsible for Foyths failings. He brought him in (knowing he had the best partnership - as you say) then failed to give him the game time required. How is that Jose's fault?

And the major point here is that he should have immediately gone out out on loan. To Italy or Spain or Leeds or back to Estudiantes.

The lad has had no chance to iron out the mistakes in his game.

That's not on Jose, that's absolutely on Poch.

and since ppl are quick to bash Jose, look who he started today.....a young lad who needs game time and experience.

Foyths failings?
They are what exactly?
Tana played today doesn't mean he'll be starting every game.

If we want to bring players in we have to let some go, we can’t just stockpile them in a bloated squad.
