If he has 3rd party ownership this feels like a waste of time. We've been stung by this exact scenario many times before

Part owned by Jonathan Barnett's agency, which is interesting. Levy is said to get on well with him so could be room for negotiation.

ITK seems to suggest Piatek is the one but that has been deadly quiet, whereas all media noise points to this one.

So according to Diario Vasco we will sign him "today at the latest" and "are yet to submit a second bid"?!

This is more of a third party ownership issue. The Dybala one was Image Rights wasn't it?

In a literal sense it is different, however with image rights being not recognised in the UK I believe our only option was to buy out the naming rights (and therefore his ex-agents investment/stake in him), which is pretty much the same thing from our perspective.

Where there’s smoke, there’s normally fire. And this one has a ton of smoke.

Doesn't quite tie in with 'today at the latest', but does suggest there is a deal to be done that is well within our means.

Edit: Quite similar to the Diario Vasca link above.

I think the main difference is that Dybala was in dispute with his agency over the image rights. Stellar probably own the rights specifically to sell and make a profit at the right time. They will know that we represent their best chance to monetise the player and he will probably devalue every year from now which should be his peak.

I doubt we want to do this deal but if we do this would be 1000% easier to resolve than Dybala.

So essentially because of the third party ownership issues we, Sociedad want a bigger fee so they feel like they actually get something for the player.

I read something the other day that explained it like 30% of the fee going to stellar so that when he arrives at Spurs we would own him 100%. Since third party ownership is not allowed in the Premier League.

And as you said, Barnett and Levy get along so that should not be much of an issue if it is Willian we end up with.

Why’s this deal reportedly imminent when we keep getting told Piatek is 1st choice and Jose doesn’t fit what Mourinho is after... it screams of cheap bargain basement over Piatek at £30m, which in today’s market is still cheap.

Oh yeah I don't dispute that.
