The lads mentality is the toughest challenge for Mourinho. They really are not winners, sad to say..

They don't seem to me to have a target in mind looking forward. I starting to think some of the players Mourinho is constantly playing are actually the ones he is putting up on shop window comes end of season..

None really have a winners mentality, especially those that have been here a while. Hence why if Jose wants to win anything he will have to bring that in to the club and retain those that will embrace it and can improve mentally. Those that can’t, fuck off please?

Højbjerg and especially Redmond was class to be fair. Would love Redmond, can play both sides and seems better than Moura and he is only 25.

Yeah. I agree with this.

i think there was a time when the team genuinely believed they were the best team in the country (probably right for a season or two) and played like that, but coming so close to success (both league and CL) to then ultimately watching Liverpool and City leave us in the rear view mirror has completely shattered the self belief and morale.

I think they just dont have that fire to achieve something because deep down they know they just arent good enough when it comes to the crunch. I don't know how you fix that, until that entire generation of players move on.

Too easy though to say it's just the players.

Against Norwich we're doing alright in the first half, pressing high. Second half we come out and have 5/6 defending, 4/5 stood up front doing nothing and are wide open. Today we have a good first half, disciplined all in behind the ball and then rapid counter attacks, second half again though 3/4/5 stop working and getting back and again we're wide open.

Manager can do something about that, he hasn't. If he wants them to play like that and is deliberately opening up games then it isn't working and its utterly shite to watch. And if he doesn't he should start kicking some backsides and hauling them off the pitch at the first sign of it. Early on is the only time he's going to get to swing the wrecking ball, he should start doing it.

Haven't watched today but seems, from this thread, we dominated but didn't take our chances. Knew lo celso would be a good signing. Will be a key player

Fair result.

We really lack fitness.

When we tire that is when we can't get hold of the ball.

Definitely did not dominate. They had something like over 100 more passes then us and definitely had more chances.

Newcastle, Southampton and Tottenham all face FA Cup replays, scheduled for February 4 or 5.

Newcastle, Southampton and Tottenham are all supposed to be on their "winter break" from February 2-15.

Well planned out. #nufc #saintsfc #coys

The way the players panic under pressure and consistently give the ball away is amazing, Mourinho has to find a way to fix it because they can't sell all the players.

Most of our players are technically quite poor, this is unfortunately Poch's legacy as he favoured athletes over footballers. Hopefully once Ndombele and Lo Celso get a few games together and we have an actual striker we will retain the ball a bit better. Our defenders, Toby aside, are pretty awful on the ball. I worry Sanchez, a bit like Aurier, is never going to eradicate the mistakes. Think another CB may be necessary in the rebuild. Anyway thought the performance was a bit better today, I'm quietly confident we'll be a decent team again next season.

At least we hadn't planned on going anywhere for it
