Don't know how good this guy is - hope he is the business.

BUT. For the whole season I have been complaining about our front 4/5 all being versions of the same thing, with varying quality. Son, Moura, Lo Celso, Lamela, Dele - all of them are head down, go forward with the ball merchants (varying degrees granted). I have been crying out for someone with vision in the midfield to be able to stop with the ball, see the bigger picture and then control and pass - Carrick, Modric, (dare I say Henderson). Is this guy this or is he another version of the above we already have? PS - I don't discount Sissoko or NDombele in this above either - they are borderline. This guy may well be better than all of them, but is he a fundamental priority?

I have 3 priority positions on the field and his probably isn't one of them. Totally on board with it as long as the rest is being addressed also.
Love the disagrees, including yourself Nick, especially as I dared to mention NDombele, which we've had a slight disagreement elsewhere. Maybe some people do not understand what I'm writing - we have a fundamental problem with players that really pass, pass the ball quick and quicker but often are reactive and don't see the bigger picture. Often, as yesterday at Saints where I was, our passing is/was simply too quick and without thought or precision. Brilliant when it comes off, but a fraction random in use (and for the most pretty bad to be honest). I said 'bigger picture' - needing someone to control it. A need for an upgrade for maybe Winks, Dier, Victor. Of course they all have their place within the squad, but I'm referring to priorities. I'd hoped that Winks was going to be it - not quite so convinced now. Last night on MOTD Murphy was going on about Kovacic. In my humble opinion, someone in his position/quality is my priority. Bring on another host of disagrees I suppose!

Maybe people understand, but disagree.

I was actually mainly disagreeing because I can’t believe you think Lo Celso plays without vision, control and that he doesn’t see the bigger picture. He has incredible vision and the ability to dictate the game and play thoughtful passes in to the right areas.

Ndombele also has these skills.

He receives the ball and has the skill (and maybe vision?) to make things happen certainly. But it is reactive and not central to the way the team plays, at the moment. Maybe that will change. Yesterday, the brilliant run wasn't planned - it happened. Someone gave him the ball and he saw the opportunity and reacted. I don't disagree he is a good player at all. I don't see he has a plan and therefore pulls the strings of the rest of the team in that way from a central position - he does that through his skill and opportunity.

In addition, if the rest of the team are playing such quick flicky, little passes to each other then it is not surprise that sometimes they don't work.

But at least you had the decency to reply as to why you disagreed!;)
