How anyone can be unhappy with signing Bergwijn, Gedson, and tying Lo Celso down is beyond me.

Yeah we need a striker as a stop-gap, but since it's clear most of you would whine like little bitches at someone like Giroud, I don't know how the club wins in this scenario?

Paying megabucks for a box office striker when we won't need them in a few months' time would be irresponsible bordering on negligent, so we're left looking at more seasoned options. All of whom are apparently not good enough for everyone on here.

As the chairman of the club, if we desperately need a striker, and we don't get one, I'm not sure who else we're meant to blame to be honest. I have to take responsibility for things beyond my control in my job - everyone does - part of any job where you have control and responsibility is avoiding getting into a situation where you've left yourself without options. We haven't had a backup striker for 6 months. I blame Levy, not the Italains, or the striker who changed his mind at the last minute, or the agent who fucked with us. The buck stops with Levy. This was all completely avoidable.

Will be delighted if he pulls it out of the bag before the window closes but if he doesn't, who should we blame. Because it's certainly somebody's fault.

You can't blame Levy mate, look at the shiny new stadium.

Same shit different window.

JM has his excuses already for failing to get top 4 and/or trophy. He can't lose. If he does you can bet your bottom dollar he will bring the no striker thing up many times over to big himself up. If we don't get top 4 / trophy he will say what do you expect without a striker. When Levy fails to back him in the summer, you will see JM reverting to type.

We continue to pay through the nose to watch our team play shit football with no ambition shown whatsoever from the board.

We can only do options due to financial balancing. Option has to be in our favour.
We won’t entertain obligation as effects our balance sheet. As Bank commitment would be needed.

summer different matter ?

So DL offers very dreadful options to Mourinho and we shouldn't blame him. Who should we blame our scouts?

Why is it necessary to blame anyone?

The crux of it is that Mourinho and Pochettino have completely different views on Son and Parrott.

Back in August we all would have been fine with Kane/Son/Parrott + Bergwijn or ideally Dybala.

But a few words from JM "Son isn't a 9, Parrott isn't ready" and we're out with our pitchforks? Do me a favour.

The club couldn't have anticipated the change in management, and with it the changing assessment of those two players.

Nor could they (nor should) they have foisted a back up no.9 on Poch that he didn't want.

January is a reactive window with slim pickings. Athletico, PSG, United, Chelsea, Inter all unable to get a striker (and they'd all bit our arm of for Son btw).

If there's any blame to be had, it goes back to 2018 and Levy/Poch together not forcing out the players who ended up undermining the whole project, forcing us to change manager mid season, and the above unfolding.

But that's done, we are where we are and just need to get on with it.

lol Are you aware of some of Jose's signings at United? :cautious:

I don't see why Levy would back Jose on 2 signings and not a loan one, just seems odd. Hertha spent £27M on the Polish lad, how could you justify spending that on a guy who will have a run for 4-5 months then sit on the bench?

Chelsea were looking for a striker and failed, United are looking at spunking £25M on Josh fucking king?

Bad examples mate, how many strikers do Chelsea and United have in their squad?

I love that this lack of a backup striker is purely down to the difficulty of the January transfer window, as if we didn't need one 6 months ago either. I was hesitant about getting a striker due to Parrott but 2 managers have now said he's not ready so the club has known this problem long enough not to wait for our injury prone striker to get his yearly injury.

I think we're all very happy with the signings we've made...

... I think it's really quite reasonable that some of us are unhappy that there's a back-up striker shaped hole in a squad that hasn't been filled since June and we've consequently seen our only recognised striker inevitably fall victim to an injury that effectively ends his season and the clubs response is to.... do what exactly?

By not getting a striker in (and I don't mean today - I mean over the course of three months of open transfer windows) we've effectively, as a club, thrown the towel in on making Champions League.
