Think he's sold in the summer, without a doubt.
Perhaps that's what poch meant when he said "painful rebuild" he was going the bionic legs route... To replace the ones he broke.Another one that I’m really worried about career wise something is up with him big time.
Poch seems to have broken a lot of players with his methods very similar to biesla
I think I saw a stat saying he had the fourth highest pass completion and highest on our team. But I also could have miss read that. Ether way I feel he just isn't our future.I thought he looked a bit more mobile today, not great in possession though. Did his defensive job reasonably well. I think he needs more time after such a long and debilitating illness.
to keep Jan company in the bleep tests?Really needs to just be a CB
It's kind of ironic that he's our only true remaining defensive midfielder in the squad, yet due to his immobility and dodgy passing we're weaker defensively with him in the side than without him. Lo Celso, who is ostensibly an attacking player, provides far more tenacity and defensive cover than Dier does these days.
He's either got to be permanently converted into a CB or sold. Maybe he could play the odd game covering in DM when we're really desperate (like yesterday) but he shouldn't be anywhere near the conversation on legitimate midfield options going forward.
I’m of the opinion that we’ve outgrown him but I don’t think current formations/ tactics are helping him. Dier was at us best when he was a DM, either 2 man or 3 man midfield, dropping between two centre backs when we attacked so that both fullbacks could bomb up the pitch. We are now playing a formation that, whether 352 or 4231/433, involves two centre backs and a full back who basically tucks in as a wide centre back, making Dier’s biggest strength obsolete and accentuating his flaws as our midfield need to be proactive and quick thinking the moment we have the ball.
His best position in this formation would be as the defensive RB to Aurier’s attacking RB, but would rely on Sessegnon being trusted to play as an attacking winger. Won’t happen, especially now that Davies is fit enough to be the defensive left back option again, meaning Tanganga might well be the defensive RB option going forward.
the fact that we havent even tried Foyth as DM is totally beyond me.....
