A possibility Dele maybe suspended.

Daily Fail.
The Football Association are investigating Dele Alli’s controversial video he posted on social media mocking a man over the Coronavirus outbreak, which leaves the Tottenham man facing a suspension.
The Spurs player has issued an apology for the inappropriate video but could now be punished after the FA opened an investigation in view of a potential disrepute charge.
Disciplinary chiefs have now written to Alli to seek his observations on the post.

I do find it ludicrous how players can get banned for off field matters which aren’t breaking the law, no doubt he’ll get banned as Silva did

See, this is what annoys be a bit with all the "yeah but was the bloke even Chinese?" comments.
When people from Asia have difficulty differentiating between different countries, how is it actually racist when someone from the west does?
It's like being called racist because you can't tell the difference between folk from different African countries.
Obviously it's a very complicated subject, probably too much so for a debate on a football forum but I honestly think people are too quick to pull out the racist card.

It was an insensitive comment but not racist.

As far as I'm aware no one has ever said you are a racist if you accidentally mistake identities as lookalikes of people from different cultural backgrounds

If though you are making a joke and the target intended is to mock those who are from a certain racial background purely for that reason then yes it is racist.

That said I'd be very surprised if Dele is an actual racist, he's just a bit of a clown and has probably said what 99% of people have said behind closed doors, still doesn't excuse it mind.

I think here that the intention was the important factor. It wasn’t an innocent mistake from him. I don’t think he even cared whether the guy was actually Chinese.

Don't think he'll get banned. He's already made a fairly full apology, so I would expect a fine & a warning about his future conduct.

How do the FA have the power to do this?

They now seem to have the right to judge a players off the field actions at ban them accordingly, to my mind this is more sinister than anything Dele has done.

What other things do they have the power to ban players for Away from the pitch? Seen quite a few players parking is disabled spaces for instance, one game ban? Where will it end.

Ideally it would end when players stop being dicks. Ultimately they are playing for clubs and in leagues that have a right to demand certain standards of behaviour like any other employee would be expected to have. And have sponsors for whom the same applies. Of course this probably doesn't warrant the thermonuclear response suggested by a certain hyperbolic poster from across the pond, but it's a fair cop if he does get a punishment.

Dunno, when they gave Andre Gray a four game ban in 2016 for something he tweeted in 2012, when he was a lower league player it sort of felt like a benchmark.

And didn't Holgate get banned for something he tweeted when he was 15ish, or did I dream that?

I actually think they risk making this part of the game.

If I were a manager in this climate I'd actually have a opposition social media scouting team that looks over opposition players social media before big games to try and get them banned. I might even try to incite them into saying or doing some dodgy by paying people to run social media accounts and interact with them.

Could also pay their friends to see if they are willing to cough up any dubious stories or video. Ex girlfriends anything. Horrible for players but if it's a way to get a sporting advantage through bans then it becomes just that, a sport.

I'd like to go back to 1939, the year I was born and start my life all over again and put right the things I could have done better.

I often have that fantasy myself, but then I realize I could be altering the chain of events which resulted in the birth of my two year old nephew, and that's when the fantasy ends.

That seems a little over the top to me. But there you go.
