TEAM FORM -- Villa LDWWL ---- Spurs DWDWW ----- (All Competitions)

Aston Villa are winless in their last eight Premier League (PL) games against us (D2 L6), losing each of the last four in a row. They last beat us at Villa Park in January 2008 (2-1).

Villa's 7 PL victories this season have come on 6 different days of the week, with Sunday the only day Villa have yet to win in 2019 - 20. Victory there will see Villa become just the second team in English Top-Flight history to win a league game on all 7 days of the week within the same season, after us in 1986-87.

Villa have faced more shots than any other PL side this season (441). Their record of 17.6 shots faced per game is their highest in a single campaign in the competition since we have this data available (2003-04).

Jack Grealish has created 63 chances for his teammates in the PL this season, more than double that of any other Villa player. He is also the first player to register 50+ shots and 50+ chances created for Villa since Christian Benteke in 2012-13.

In all competitions, we have won 10 of our last 11 meetings with Aston Villa, losing the other 0-1 at White Hart Lane in April 2015. We are unbeaten in our last 22 PL away games against promoted sides (18 D4) since a 0-1 loss to QPR in April 2012.

We are looking to secure 3 consecutive PL victories for the first time since a run of four in January / February 2019. However, we have just two of our last eighteen league games on the road (D5 L11). We have had fewer shots on target (110) than we have faced (125) in the PL this season - the last time we have faced more than we had in a single season in the competition was in 2003 - 04 (194-179).

Of away grounds he has visited at least 5 times in the PL, only at St James' Park (0/7) has Mourinho won fewer games than he has at Villa Park (1/6). In our 2-0 against Man City, Steven Bergwijn became the 250th player to score on his debut, and the 13th Dutch player. No Dutch player has ever scored in both of their first two appearances in the competition.

I hope that means we will actually go at them and not sit back trying to hit on the counter. Still think we'll win whatever but I'd like to see us punish that weak defence.
If Lo Celso starts I can only see a Spurs win.

I took defeat at Villa Park badly last time and proposed to my Villa supporting girlfriend the next day. We’ve been married 10 years, bought a house, had two kids. No idea what happens if we lose this time.

Clearly you'll renew your vowes, buy a holiday home and produce two more sprogs.

God help you.

Two wins in last 18 away games?!? Bloody hell that's shocking, I knew we have been poor away from home but didn't realise it was that bad.
Won't really face an easier side to pick up a win given the chances Villa give up.

Disclaimer: not making this a Levy thread, please.

But..

Over the long term, it's mad how much this fixture has changed. We were on a par (at most) 8/10 years ago. Now if we don't win, even away from home, it's a terrible result. They haven't even been particularly poorly run either.

/end Levy chat.

We need to win this. Momentum of the City win has been broken up by the break, so winning this is crucial. Regain that momentum going into a MASSIVE game at Stamford Bridge.

Lloris

Aurier
Alderweireld
Tanganga
Davies

Winks
Lo Celso (if fit*)
Ndombele

Bergwijn
Alli
Son

*if not fit, Moura in, Alli deeper. Risky, but I think worth it.

On man, I love the potential of that midfield three when all PL match fit.

Tough games coming up like this one when we are struggling for form. With everyone chasing the Blue scum it’s a 6 pointer for sure.

not sure you quite understand the meaning of the term 6 pointer there fella unless we are fearing a relegation battle with villa.

My Daughter is our mascot for this game. She's so excited about it. As am I.

Hoping for a convincing win so I can tell her it was all down to her mascotting. ;)

We are 4 points off Chelsea with Sheffield Utd and others breathing down our necks. If that isn’t a 6 pointer I don’t what is.

Can't wait enough to watch this game. The winter break seems like an eternity of no football that the days are dreadful. Somehow it just felt even emptier than preseason.

When you play a direct rival.

Winning means you pick up 3 and they drop 3 = 6 points
Us winning against Villa is needed, but its only 3 points
