Imo a good manager or coach gets the best out of what is at his disposal.
Is that what we are seeing?
I dont think so.

Any coach would struggle coming in mid-season with our stale, injury ravaged squad. Currently we have no strikers, ageing/ spent centre backs, average to crap full backs, no defensive midfielder and our main CM is seriously unfit. Perhaps someone like Klopp would get us pressing a bit better but with the current players available I think even he'd have a massive job trying to get us scoring and winning games at the moment.

This squad is near enough done. Yes we've made some exciting signings like Lo Celso and Stevie but the nucleus of the squad is past it's sell by date. 18 months of under-investment not only meant no new players coming in. A big side effect was that some of the existing players have become de-motivated, complacent and are no longer good enough or are over-the-hill.

This isn't a dig at you - more a general point. People should stop blaming the coaches - be it Poch or Jose - and start looking a bit higher up if we want to understand why the club has regressed on the pitch over the last couple of years.

No one rated after the other night, and everyone was pretty much made up that he was dropped for todays game. I can't keep up with the ideal that this would have cut it today, seems more like a case of people making it up as they go along.
How dare you.
Im not sure you appreciate how hard it is to sit in your pants on the internet, knowing full well that your team selection and tactical decisions will never be actually put to the test because you're just a bloke in his pants on the internet.

It's no walk in the park I can assure you.

No matter how you look at things, we're shambolic at the moment. We look awful in games and tend to scrape victory rather than deserve it.
I dont believe that Jose is the right man for the job, but he is our man, give him next season and go from there.
The worry for me is that he's repeating his usual mistakes, playing awful football, falling out with players (Rose, Alli, Ndombele) deflecting away from bad performances with silly antics.
He needs to give Parrott a go, what does he have to lose? Hes either going to be the manager that believes in youth and it paid dividends or the manager who gave youth a try but it didnt quite work out, we cant go on playing Moura and Bergwjin up top.
I for one am righting off this season, if things continue to get worse and the football declines further then we should part ways with jose at the end of the season. If it improves, give the man a chance and se how he fares next season.
Time will tell I guess, but it looks like it's going to be a difficult watch for the time being

Jose post interview reminded me of Poch. I have no clue what game he was watching. Explains why he didn’t try to win the game and still playing 5 defenders 2-0 down. Pathetic.

Man for man today, our squad was not worse than what Chelsea lined up with. It’s so painful watching us don’t fight with everything we got and play like we wanted to get a result.

It's the second time I've seen Dele mentioned as being the answer to our problems today yet people were gleeful at the idea he had been benched.

'That'll show, useless player that he has now become!'

15 minutes after the game

'Dele would have been perfect to lead the line, we could have played off of him!'

Ah, I see how it is, yes, I see.

Lovely set of mids comfortable on the ball really. Good to great technique all of them.
I understand not scoring but this cowardly all out defence direct to moura stuff is hurtful

Same could be said of the last 6 - 12 months - probably tells you more about the footballers at the club than anyone cares to admit.

Why all the excuses, it doesn't make up for the backward looking tactics, hit and hop gutless performances we have to watch every match, well at least the first half. Anybody turns us over these days. We scrape wins, lucky wins, witness Mcity, Norwich and Saints...... longer list supplied if required.
Mourinho is turning into a specialist in excuses

I think there is a massive chunk of support on here that want him to fail because it's Jose Mourinho ...

We should have gone with Howe, I keep saying it, but people would have been happy because he does pretty triangles in the middle of the pitch. He could have brought Adam Smith with him, proper Tottenham lad. Sorted.

Agree. So many players are past it.

But Mourinho can blame injuries or whatever he wants. But he has to work with what he got and make the rest perform. We’re a much better side than we show currently. It’s what Poch was so good at. Making his players reach their potential together.

He's a great manager. The problem is the lack of quality in key positions and that is not his fault.

You look at all the great Mourinho teams all of them had a strong spine, carvalho, makalele, Drogba as an example. Today we had a finished vertonghen and a past his best Toby, weak Winks and no striker.

He is no fool and am confident he will get it right with backing from levy, this is up to the owners to back him

Mournino has a pass from me until next season.

Nothing to do with it being Jose Mourinho. It’s to do with the style of football he deploys. Or the distinct lack of it.

Up until this week with someone he trusted to play in and around up to we were getting results - i'm a stuck record but - he lost him last Sunday and here we are a week later and we're two losses in and everyone shouting about him again.

The correlation between these two things is key but people just want to stick a boot in and gargle Pochs balls at the same time.

Yeah but football games are about winning and he was winning ... You just don't like Mourinho and are peddling it as such ... You weren't rattling on like this last weekend ...
