It's quite different being a minority though. Try having some empathy, perhaps.
One can dispute the semantics over whether or not it is racist but it is definitely offensive and would make you feel pretty crap if you were in the targeted group. Furthermore, it was painfully unfunny. Surprised a media trained lad in the apparently woke generation is so unaware.
Uhm, are asian people a mintority though? I think every other ethnicity or whatever is a minority in comparison to them.
I actually think the targeted group was Dele Alli. The center of the joke was him, how he was feeling so ridiculously paranoid about the virus. He was the one who was supposed to be laughed at, not the person with Asian factions.
I use that type of humor all the time, but only with the people who knows me best: I will do or say something stupidly outrageous, that I wouldn't normally do. My audience usually find it funny (or at least they act like they do). because they know I'm really not that way, and it's like together we're making fun of the people who really are that way.
I doubt the Chinese/Asian population could be called a minority. It's quite different being a minority though. Try having some empathy, perhaps.
An innocent joke by a young bloke who was not aware or being intentionally racist but being treated as though he was being intentionally offensive.
This is the new normal.
I agree, racism is certainly not a joke. I just don't think this was a racist comment, deliberately intended by Dele. I am from Ireland living in the USA. I'm sure you can imagine all the stereo typical comments and jokes prompted at me and my race. We never get offended, if it's a joke.Jokes are funny. Racism and widespread infections arent

Yes I tend to agree, but he should know better. He’s young, but he’s been around the game and in the public eye long enough.
Players should steer clear of social media imo, including what they consider “private” snap chat/WhatsApp groups whatever.
It’s difficult in this day and age where people communicate this way, but there are always those keen to make a quick buck and footballers have to sacrifice social elements in their life. It just comes with the territory.
You can’t spot the racism?Oh jog the fuck on. So now you're a racist unless you say racism is everpresent? How was this situation even remotely racist?
I doubt the Chinese/Asian population could be called a minority.
Im sure this was not in good taste. I would never support racism - but would see racism as a mind set (i.e. some intent/attitude that prevails over time in the individual(s)). This was one incident, inappropriate yes, but I doubt there was any racist intent.
If no generalised ill intent was intended at (say) the Chinese race, or the individual concerned - we should accept the apology, and assume it was an unfortunate and foolish act.
Must be a full blown racist as I can't in this case. You can’t spot the racism?
Perhaps you’re right then.Must be a full blown racist as I can't in this case.
Sorry but it's people like you who make non-racists turn racist. I mean if you see them as such anyway, what's the use in proving otherwise. People like you live in a perpetual state of victimhood and see racism around every corner and in everyone, unless they cow tow to your view of things. A sad existence TBH.Perhaps you’re right then.
You seem to know an awful lot about me. Perhaps a bit of self-reflection on your part might help.Sorry but it's people like you who make non-racists turn racist. I'm fine, thanks. It's you who sees racists everywhere. You seem to know an awful lot about me. Perhaps a bit of self-reflection on your part might help.
