You can’t say he was a fraud when he was involved in buying Modrić, Bale, Suarez, and Henderson for Spurs and Liverpool. Unfortunately he also bought Zokora, Bentley and Carroll.

Jol was a lovely guy, but let’s face it, nothing special as a coach.
DC was there when those players were bought, he didn't "discover" them. The hit and miss nature of those acquisitions say as much.

Jol brought this club back, and began our revival. He made us a top 5 team, and was one lasagna away from getting us CL. That was his squad that won the League Cup. He was a fine coach, and we wouldn't be where we are without him. Comolli and Kelmsley stabbed him in the back.

Nah, mate. Truth is somewhere in the middle. Comolli’s analytics-based approach had some success, but also had its limitations.

Jol brought good feeling back to the club, helped by a good transfer strategy and club shake up started by Arnesen. But as a coach and tactician he was very limited. At the time Ramos was one of the most successful coaches in Europe, maybe only behind Jose, it was a no-brainer to try and get him. It was handled with zero class, though, and that was shameful.

Well its all well and good Jose wanting him. Levy’s the one who makes the decisions and the one in control of the money. If Levy wont cede any control, you can put a stake in this.

Levy has had DoF, TD, DoRs in the past and at the behest of the manager, not had them. That's ceding control on both ends of the spectrum.

[L’Equipe] | Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has now made an offer to Lyon’s head of recruitment Florian Maurice to join the football club. Maurice is facing a very uncertain future, following the arrival of Juninho as sporting director of the Ligue 1 outfit.

I dont know who he is or if he is any good and until 30 seconds ago wasn't aware of his existence but i now feel getting him is the most important thing this club absolutely has to do so help me god.

I'd not heard of him either, so I did a bit of research.

Apparently some call him the space cowboy.

Some call him the gangster of love.

Not sure how I feel about this potential development after all levy holds the purse strings, so having a sporting director isn't going to make us more ambitious or suddenly see us turn into winner's.

Didn’t Dragon1’s recent mix of ITK/opinion say the Lyon director, with everyone assuming they were mistaken for Campos at Lille?

Interesting.

Regarding, Campos it seems impossible to bring him in due to his business arrangement.

Perhaps we wanted Campos but realised it wasn't possible so went for the next best option?

That's the spirit!

Not sure how I feel about signing Messi or Ronaldo, I mean they're great players after all but Levy holds the purse strings and we all know he's not gonna strengthen otherwise, so having two of the greatest players who ever played the game isn't going to make us more ambitious or suddenly see us turn into winner's.

Not sure what this means? We are spending all the money the club generates. So unless you are talking about bringing in some oil money (money there suddenly is far less of) what is your point?

This summer we spent 100m+ (if you include the fee for Lo Celso even if that "transfer" happened in January). Early days of course, obviously N'Dombele, Sessegnon and Clarke kan still turn out to be good players, but so far those 100m+ gave us one excellent player and a lot of nothing. So I'll say how we spend our money matters.

Looking at the signings Lyon have made the last couple of years I'm not really that impressed.

Going for the next best option is just what we do lol.

Except that is literally the opposite of what we have been doing for the last few years. When we couldn't get Poch's no 1 targets we didn't get anyone and all the alternatives he rejected, which is how we ended up where we are today.
