Really don’t think he’s that good. Never scored 10 Pl goals in a season, he’s 31 so we have him for maybe 2yrs? never been that consistent, dont know a Chelsea fan that doesn’t want him gone and he literally mugged us off. He can’t play up front so just adding to an area of our squad we have enough in. Need a striker!!! If we want a winger on a free much rather Fraser purely for his age

Plus Fraser didn’t fuck us over. Although Willian could be said to have done us a favour because if he’d of signed then we’d never have gone for Eriksen.

We’re desperate mate. Plus, we’ve got to back Mourinho, this is the situation we’re in otherwise we might as well have sacked him in the summer. Got to see it through now though. This was my worry though, the summer transfers and actually setting us back even further. Let’s just hope Mata, Matic and Smalling aren’t on the list as well.

The 2 signings jose has made though are complete opposite of this Willian deal. Just a complete nothing signing for me! Reckon his wages be pretty big as well, can imagine he’s on 200k+ at Chelsea

He is that player with experience of winning trophies that could be an influence on the younger players.

I guess that the best teams are often a mix of younger prospects and older, more experienced players. Not saying that he will end up signing although it's not a stretch to imagine Jose being keen on him. In the current climate, one would hope that Willian would be sensible enough not to expect astronomical wages.

Shit, I hope this is BS, because if he joins us I'm done, and I'm a 4th gen Spurs fan, my 22 year old daughter is, of course 5th gen. I will lose all respect for the club I love!
Seems a bit OTT. Why would this signing end your support of the club?

If he's out of contract and Chelsea aren't offering him a new one then essentially he'll need to take the best offers on the table. Can't imagine many lining up to pay him £200k a week.

I would'nt go this far, but it just does'nt sit right with me.

Football for me is about kinship, rivalry, banter, club.

This is heading down the franchise route.

I seem to remember a lot of fans being unhappy at us signing Gallas but he then won most of us over.

Oh sorry, I gave your previous post a laughter rating because I thought that you were joking.

You should have gone when Mourinho was hired then.

Yeah, bloody hell, worse things have happened to us than signing a player who did us over a few years back. It's not exactly like we were trying to re-sign Sol Campbell after he'd gone to Arsenal on a free.

I have no problem at people being unsure of a signing or even being against it. But Sol Campbell aside no signing would get me angry let alone make me want to stop supporting the club.

I agree that willian seems like a pretty pointless signing but I have no idea on the ins/outs. Maybe getting a load of old players to try and play jose ball on relatively short contracts isn't the worst idea. Then when the next manager comes in a few years he isn't saddled with a load of players he doesn't want.

All a bit uninspiring though. ?

Yeah, or as I said, Willian knows what it's like to win trophies - that can't be a bad thing for the team.

Rather Rakitic if we want an experienced head. Something we should of bought (an experienced head that is) under Poch and that player might of seen us through some of those games when we were up there challenging.

I guess that it's all the stars and moons aligning with him having reached the end of his contract at Chelsea, he is obviously close with Jose and he wants to remain in London and he must obviously accept that his wages will be lower. If it means that Jose is being backed it can't be a bad thing and hopefully it'll be a similar situation to when Poyet came in (albeit Poyet was several years older) and added some experience to the team.

He’s not good enough now and he could go downhill very fast at his age and position. Would be a stupid signing. Go get Eze who I think could become very good and would come on reasonable wages and probably a decent fee now

And by the time a number of our players fitted into the experienced category - like Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dembele they all looked really tired, unhappy, unfit or generally out of form. I think as you say we could have done with someone experienced coming to fresh to the club to add something different to what was an extremely energetic young side. Like how Davids added a spark to where we were at the time even though it was only very short-term.

Is Willian the kind of character of experience we need? Don't have the feeling Willian is a leader that really gets us forward as a group.

Would rather get Eze and give him game time. Someone who is hugnry to reach the top.
