haha, love Gary Neville's criticism of Pickford.. "of all the players on the pitch he aims for 5'5'' Bernard, that sums it up"

I don’t really know how to feel right now. Two of the greatest managers in the history of football just churned out that absolute disgrace of a football match. Never felt so depressed after a win

I think that I’ll watch my phone get goal notifications from the game on Thursday as it’ll probably be more exciting than that drivel

I didnt think the first half was that bad, but it's all relative I suppose. Playing winks and having glc in an advanced positioned helps a bit.

But overall, two midtable shite teams with nowt to play for playing conservative "dont lose" footy.

Boring, but we got 3 points. That's more of what I expect from Jose. Its better than playing like shit and losing. ?

You can definitely see the green shoots and Jose getting his philosophies across to the team.

Some excellent interplay and enterprising attacking play.

Am I mistaken but thought the 5 subs could only be made in 3 windows?
I've been kicking off about it all over the internet but @jedimonkey suggested that half time doesn't count as one of those "windows". The 3-window limit is just to avoid time wasting so it sounds plausible (even though I can't find anything about it in the rule changes).

Not sure this team can play on their front foot at the moment. Given how poorly we've been playing, this might be the best result we can get until the mentality improves. Not sure what will improve that but i'll take a win as ugly as it was and demand beauty at some future point in time.

Agreed. Worry about winning pretty when we start actually winning consistently again.

That is up there as the most non-descript football match I have ever seen. We've had 90 minutes and I'd be struggling to tell you anything - any moment, any event, any chance, any random bit of quality - that came from either side.

Two teams desperately short of any form, confidence, of spark about them and that look like they're waiting for the end of the season to come and playing these games out in limbo, hoping they can rebuild for future campaigns.

The scruffiest of own goals got us the three points and the win at least, but that is the smallest of mercies. We'd all like to fast forward a few months...
