Seemed really weird that Jose and his coaching staff were celebrating so hard after the final whistle. The skeptic in me feels it may have been done for the benefit of the Amazon documentary to make it look like a successful season? I’ll take 6th though after the start we had.

I might have got this completely wrong, but if Wolves win the CL (unlikely) and Arsenal wIn the FA Cup, do we have to play a qualifying match to get in to the Group stage of the EL?

I'm pretty sure I heard CL and EL qualifying are going to be single leg ties this year, could be nervy if we pull anyone half decent out of the hat.

Dier, Winks and Sissoko can't be starters next season.

Dier and Winks can be, Sissoko cannot. Of winks is played in a different role he can be very effective, he's just not a DM.

Dier has proven himself to be a good CB, just not a DM either.

Sissoko is a rotation option to close out games, he's technically deficient to the point he actually hinders our attacking intent.

As it stands, we're going into the 2nd qualifying round. Unless Chelsea win FA Cup.

Wolves can't win the CL ;)

But no it's not both, it's either or, if Arsenal win the FA Cup it doesn't matter what Wolves do, we have to play qualifiers.

Maybe I’m ultra cynical, I can’t see us taking Europa seriously. Yeah blah blah he’s done it before, with massive squads (which we don’t have) tho. It’s all PR at this point.

Jose will take European competition seriously no matter what instructions he gets from above. European football made him and he always gives 100%. He's much more likely to sack off the league if he sniffs an EL trophy.

We've looked better than what was being served up Pre Jose and that's me being kind.

I'm not sure I'd agree. I still struggle to see any identity about us but with this kind of season that's more than forgivable.

Tottenham are guaranteed a EL place. However, should Wolves win the EL Spurs would have to play a 2nd round qualifier instead of going straight into the group stage.

Isn't it if arsenal win the fa cup we'd need to qualify?

I thought 5th and fa cup winners get the automatic spot, league Cup spot goes into the qualifier? Or is that wrong?

Same shit, different day. But we're in Europe so that's okay isn't it?

I found the celebration by our coaching staff embarrassing. I know we've gone from 14th to 6th since they took over, and I know that our goals against record is much improved. But there is only one reason why we have finished sixth and got into Europe: Harry Kane. He has either made or scored just about all of our goals since the re-start. Without him we'd be tenth at best.

Hoping for better next season.

Going forward there's still some concern but the defence is indefinitely better and our mentality.

Neither of these were good before.

Did Dier not mention that because Jose takes every competition seriously to the point he tries to win them all is why he re-signed?

That was yet another awful display but no doubt the excuse monkeys will be out in force to defend it.

He's got more time again to think, preseason to sort out his formation, style of our play and personnel to turn us into winners. He is not being paid £15m odd to make us also rans whilst playing dog shit football, he must deliver success and turn us into winners at the highest level (PL/CL). I won't hold my breath...
Agree. It wasn’t pretty. But it is an over simplification to lay the blame at Jose feet. Some of our boys out there today were embarrassing and inept. Sonny, Aurier, Sissoko, Winks and to a lesser extent Dier, were shocking at times. They all showed very little desire and determination to win.

I was about to edit my post to reflect that I'm probably reacting to today's performance as there had been glimpses of identity since restart (as well as decent results) so I was probably being unfair. (y)

No you're correct.

But we'll be seeded in all qualifiers we would have to play and against the dross that usually plays in EL qualifying rounds we can't be shitting bricks over it.

Three straight knockout games where we're seeded in all should be a doddle, home or away.
