It's funny Saints fans have spent a month saying he's awful and now they're salty they "only" got 15 million.

Was just about to say the same.

Tells you all you need to know. If he was as bad as they claim they wouldn't give a shit about the fee they'd be so glad to be rid lol.

Was watching a video the other day of Gerrard talking about United signing Matic. Said that when United signed him, out of all the players this was the one that feared would make United great again.

He said that playing against someone so big and long was really difficult, he was hard to get past and hard to get off the ball.

As much as people like to focus on how good a player is for the team and how good he is on the ball, it's also important how bad that player is for the opposition. If Hoejbjerg makes us harder to beat, then it's a cracking deal.

We do the same thing. When Walker was leaving it was all "lol they paid 50m for our backup. Not good enough defensively. Trips is the future. KWP as replacement lined up! Look at us go!" then "FFS Levy buy a Right Back" for 3 years.

Levy haters:

Fair play Levy. That’s a good deal.

From SaintsWeb:

Not exactly encouraging stuff. Spoke to a close mate that supports Southampton about him before and he described him as "better than David Prutton but not as good as Wanyama", and said that they are getting a better deal if it's a straight swap for KWP.

I remember being so desperate for a DM in 2003 and 2008 that when we eventually signed Michael Brown and Wilson Palacios respectively I was over the moon, and the very fact that in both cases we'd been crying out for someone with a bit of bite in midfield for years meant that both players massively improved our form in the short term when they both joined, even though they were both quite limited technically. Maybe Hojbjerg will have a similar effect but quite frankly I cannot stand watching poor technical players that can't control or pass the ball in midfield playing for Tottenham. Seems like a million years ago that we had Modric, Van Der Vaart, Kranjcar, Huddlestone and Parker as our options.

If your mate thinks sissoko is better technical footballer like some of what Southampton posters think, then I say nothing

But how can we just casually buy such a young, world class player and sell him just cause of his first season at the club he has been slow... it doesn’t make sense. Why not give him time? We’ve had so many players that started off bad in there first season, doesn’t mean we should get rid

Because it’s an attitude problem?

I like Hojbjerg even though his signing doesn’t excite me very much. Whatever you think of him, getting the holding midfielder we’re desperately lacking for KWP + c£3m is excellent business. Furthermore it’s exactly the kind of deal need to do in order to stretch the limited cash resources available at this time.

Provided there’s no late hiccup, top marks Daniel!

If Ndombele doesn't fit in Jose's system and/or buy into his philosophy then I've got absolutely no qualms in him ultimately being sold.

That goes for any player and as you say, if you have faith in Jose on the pitch then everything else is very much secondary because he'll have been a success for this club.
I am not sure if he even fits into a Poch system TBH..

Can't wait for the announcement of PEH!

Ha..I was gutted when we sold Walker, so I wasn't one of them. I knew he was always quality despite BC attempting to convince everyone he wasn't.

He was quality.

Maybe he doesn't want to be here.

Said I heard that PEH deal was essentially done yesterday with KWP going other way, and just heard it is done. It’s as good a deal as reported. Levy played a blinder. Personally hoping Winks doesn’t leave in face of it as he’s great squad player but he wants first team football and for whatever reason (maybe discussion with Jose behind closed doors) he is convinced he won’t get it

Is sissoko convinced he will play more games?

He actually didn't sell Salah. He bought Salah but Chelsea were fighting for the title so it was hard to give him game time and Jose said he was a little lost in London. They then decided to loan him out so he'd at least get game time and confidence - which he did do.

By the time it came for him to return after Roma, Jose was long gone. Then Chelsea sold him to Roma anyway.

De Bruyne was probably a mistake as Jose probably needed to talk to him rather than give him the cold shoulder. However Chelsea won the league after so they were hardly crying about it at the time. They bought Fabregas, Willian and Matic, Oscar was doing well and it was clearly hard to fit him in as he was young and needed time to improve - the others could do the job immediately. De Bruyne was also a WF/Winger at the time before Pep changed his role.

Plus the recent KDB article in the Athletic shed a bit more light on it and the player said he probably should of done more. The laziness spouted about what happened to those players quite annoys me for some reason.
