Who wouldn't want a rock solid centre back?!I'm warming to the idea of a rock solid center back.

I prefer to save the money/ swap value for one of the areas which we know need strengthening and put our faith in Tanganga , who is not that young and has shown his ability in PL. I would be very disappointed by any such move. You make a fair point, but what about a different perspective...
Buy Skriniar as Toby's long term replacement and loan Tanganga to a PL club for 2 seasons.
When Toby leaves in a couple of years, Tanganga comes back with 50+ PL games under his belt and we also have a prime (27 y/o) and integrated Skriniar at the club.
We've lacked decent continuity planning over the last few seasons; this potential scenario shows how we could or should be doing it.
Don’t see a place for him when we had Toby, Dier, Sanchez & Tanganga. Jose was content with those 4 as he rarely used Jan after the return and we still have Foyth (likely to go) and Davies who can slot in too.
Ndombele has nothing to do with the CB situation.Skriniar's obviously a good player and very much in the Mourinho mould, but it seems like overkill to me, especially if we're still in for KMJ. We'd be binning Ndombele who could be a phenominal player for a CB we really don't need if the deal is as reported.
Strange that we have him a deal until 2023 thenToby is 32 in 6 months, he hasn't got that long left.

I just don’t see an immediate place in our team for Skriniar and would think signing him right now would me a massive waste of time and money when we have other areas that need much more focus. So what if we did? He's still going to be on the decline.
No, but their immediate futures could be directly connected!Ndombele has nothing to do with the CB situation.
My thoughts and prayers are with his familyToby is 32 in 6 months, he hasn't got that long left.

Toby in a Jose style team can succeed for another 2/3 seasons yet as he isn’t demanding a high line from his defence and leaves very little opportunity for his centre backs to be faced in 1v1 situations.

If Jose rates him highly and wants to sign him of course we should be making the deal happen. Verts would have struggled for sure but Sanchez and Dier should be able to keep it relatively simple and not overplay (hopefully). I’d be keen to see Tanganga given an opportunity in the middle but I guess he’ll be given more game time on the right for the time being.Well I agree there's other areas that need addressing but if he's someone Mourinho wants and he's available now, I wouldn't rule it out before someone else goes for him. Also there's no way of knowing how Toby will decline. I still wouldn't fancy seeing Verts in our current defence.
Toby albeit still a very good defender is past his prime.
Sanchez still isn’t the finished article and does well against certain types of attackers and not so well against others.
Dier’s not in Toby’s league.
Tanganga has a bucket load of learning and development to do... he’ll most likely feature as a full back until he matures more.
Alderweireld and Sanchez is our strongest partnership but if we signed Skriniar it would be Toby and Skriniar and eventually Sanchez and Skriniar.
Is he comfortable playing on the left side ?
He’s already very much past it.Toby is 32 in 6 months, he hasn't got that long left.
