The CAS ruling on Man City has tipped the balance for me now - please can they all fuck off to their closed-shop European Super League and let the rest of us get on with supporting teams in reformed leagues with rules that seek to promote organic competition?

Im starting to agree. I think what they need to do as a first step is restructure the European competitions. Make there a new champions league for only the European league winners. That has the largest prize money. Then 2 more lower competitions. That top competition would eventually turn into a European super league and then we can get on with enjoying football again.

As much as I agree, it will never happen. You will get maybe 4 or 5 good teams out of the league winners? The other competition's with 2nd to say 4th say from English, Spanish, German and Italian leagues would be so much more appealing.

It's not the end of the world, I know, but (just my opinion/feeling) it's a bit hard sometimes to keep a shit eating grin on my face and genuinely hope that Spurs are going to compete as well as I would like when the likes of Chelsea and City etc crack on and we seem to be waiting (consistently) for either players to leave or (shuffle the deckchairs) for what it seems like easily attainable footballers.

Yeah, there's a certain amount of 'knee jerk' attached to my post, but hopefully folk will get what I am angling at.

Any good? There doesn’t seem to be many takers for him.

Think he’s a decent player, only 21, am quite surprised we didn’t go in for him to be honest - left footed central defender on a free transfer...

Can only assume Mourinho doesn’t rate him as I’m certain our scouting network would have been well aware of him.

Will be interested to see how many games James, Tomori, Ampadu, Gilmour, Christensen, Loftus-Cheek, Mount, Hudson-Odoi and Abraham play between them next season.

Seems like Lampard might already be ditching the academy kids and the pressure will really be on him now.

I certainly believe we should be better and need to be more proactive than reactive.

Unfortunately, Chelsea and City are able to go on spending sprees without worrying about how to sell the outcasted/unwanted players. They can afford to deal with that at a later date.

Also there seems to be this perception in football that a flop at Chelsea and City is still a decent player and they still have many takers. When we get a signing wrong or need to get a player off the books, we don't necessarily have clubs lining up.

Look at the differences between Batshuayi and Janssen. Batshuayi had loans at Dortmund and Palace and even chipped in at times for Chelsea last year (although they would have sold him had they not had a transfer ban. Whereas Janssen was shipped off to Turkey and the only willing buyers were a Mexican club.

Chelsea and City can afford to pay over the odds, and if it fails, okay, no problem on to the next.

Whereas look at our situation with Ndombele, we have to be careful in case the player flops as we are stuck with a player on a high salary and one we paid a lot for.

The fault lies with our recruitment strategy. Targeting the likes of Wanyama, Eriksen, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Hoejbjerg and young British players is where we have the most success. As soon as we start to target these big money signings for players with big potential, it goes haywire.

Think we need to stay in our lane.

He was hailed for playing English youth, and now they are back to buying players from other leagues.

Will be a true test for Lampard now as he will suddenly have a lot more expectation with the huge spending and less goodwill if he stops playing the kids.

Just like David O’Leary at Leeds In the late 90’s early 00’s. Let’s hope the same thing happens to them as happened to Leeds (tho I don’t think it’s likely).

Poch did the same thing at Spurs when he first joined. Very easy to pick the kids when options are limited but it takes a brave manager to persevere with that strategy when expectation levels are raised.

I think you have to see the bigger picture with Chelsea - they have a LOT of players to move on, or else they are going to implode next season (especially when they announce their CL squad).

As much as it's a 'dream window' for a computer game or on paper, it will be a big challenge to get a load of young strangers to gel, especially when the manager is only a few season in to his career. Could end up very AVB.

Could be quite a few players agitating for moves in 12 months time. Trouble is Chelsea will ask and get an arm and a leg for them. You'd think half of that list will be going out on loan this summer. Could be some good loans available for some PL teams.
