So
No Kane, Lloris, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Doherty, Toby, Dier, Tanganga, Davies, Sessegnon, Hojbjerg or Winks.
Ndombele plays 45 mins for the first time in an age, Dele comes on in CM (not best position) , Serge is playing but could be leaving and were playing a physical team who have PL quality players and are probably more at fill strength......yet we are awful and will struggle.

Calm

Sorry cannot agree. We are talking about this sort of team playing in the EL and League Cup early games.....On this performance we will not go far.

chuck another proper striker in there and it might be a different story. I only saw the last 20 minutes but we didn’t look that bad.

Arsenal lost 3 2 to villa with virtually a full strength team. The second time they’ve conceded 3 goals this preseason. As a comparison as there isn’t much difference between villa and Watford in terms of quality.

Not interested in Arsenal. It’s our team that I am concerned about.

At the end of the day, it is the last pre season friendly and no one wants to get injured. So, really hard to judge.
Nice to see TN get some time out there. Kinda crazy to think it was the first half of football he has played since March. I’m sure anyone in his position would be rusty AF. So give him some leeway in terms of evaluating his performance. Also, he more than most is probably scared shitless of getting injured again.

If we have money for a striker then we have to sell to buy, I'd sell Serge, Foyth, Rose & CCV then use all of those funds and bid for Grealish
Levy wouldn't sanction buying Grealish after he offered £15 mil and was turned down as they wanted 20 mil. which I thought was cheap at the time. Now he's likely to go for 60 to 80mil.

Hart - mabye could've done better with one of the goals

All true apart from Tanganga and Sessengon aren’t starters and we had Lamela, Dele, Lucas and Son as our attack which is 3/4 of our ‘best’ attack and they looked utterly toothless so not ideal.

we need to sign that striker so Son can drop back to LW and we need Ndombele to do better or sign a creative CM as we look toothless.

Doherty and Hoyjberg coming in will help but we need more.

I highly doubt this will be the team to play in any of the Europa League games.

For a start I imagine we'll have a striker by then, if not Kane will play.

Secondly, there's no way that midfield is seen again. Winks, Lo Celso and Sissoko will all play ahead and Ndombele (if he stays) should at least be fitter, as we'll need him to be.

I mention Sessegnon and Tanganga because they will allow us to operate the reverse system of high LWB and defensive RB.

You can argue that Son, Lucas and Lamela should do better but they really didn't have the solid foundation begind them. That same solid foundation will likely play 90% of the games next year with a bit of tweaking here and there.

Think he needs to up his game soon otherwise really see him struggling to nail down a place under Mourinho. With Kane, Son starters and Mourinho seemingly being a fan of Moura, struggling to see where Dele gets into the team when everyone is fit. Never been particularly won over by him in midfield.
There will probably be some stats out there to prove me wrong but having Dele and Moura on the pitch at the same time means you have two players who have very limited footballing skill sets. Creativity, fluid movement and passing are not there strengths and when they play that is 2 out of 4 of the attacking players and we look bereft of ideas. One is a luxury, two is asking for dour uncreative football

With pre-season you never really know how they're approaching matches.

Sometimes they might have had a beasting in training yesterday or even this morning to see how they cope when the going is against them.

Who knows.

We all read too much into friendlies these days.

Well most of Dele's best games for us came before Lucas was signed so you may be on to something.

I also think Eriksen used to help with this regard as Dele could essentially just float about and Eriksen woukd be the one to get on the ball and make something happen.

Exactly.

You dont approach a friendly in anyway as you do a competitive match. The mentality is completely different.

Whilst the result is disappointing getting 3 points at Everton is all that matters . Some of those out there were fringe of the actual fringe players and possibly wouldnt start the early EL and LC games anyway . Also fringe rhymes with ..... ginge. We are re signing Gary Docherty . ITK
