There's your issue. Not Jose. All too easy to criticise the midfield. But it's not him who spend a gargantuan amount of cash on one creative midfielder whose been injured the whole year and another more interested in McDonalds than midfield.

why is this a surprise this is basically the same squad as last season, twitter 'ITK' rumours doesn't equal players on the pitch, we have gone for two reasonably priced players otherwise nothing has changed, we could change managers all we want without proper investment and a transfer strategy we will continue to struggle....Levy's attitude quoted on Amazon "last week of the window is when transfers happen" shows he is not in touch how clubs operate now...

I don’t understand this lip sided full back idea. It’s been introduced as if it is some sort of tactical genius voodoo; nobody else plays it for a reason. Why take away a half of your attacking outlet. So teams plug our right hand side and we are them impotent. It’s utter rubbish.

What amazes me is that it seems to be used in every game which just tells me we aren't shaping up in consideration of the opposition we're just using the same tactics over again regardless of opposition.

If i was Kane I would definitely think about leaving. He could play for City and get a dozen chances a game, instead he has to play for us who can't even get the ball to him.
Yep I totally agree, Kane owes us or the club nothing and I would only have nothing but admiration for him regardless. He could go on and win things with City for sure - he will never win anything significant with us.

I genuinely think if we can get Lo Celso and Ndombele on the pitch at the same time, we'll have a very good midfield. But today it lacked absolutely anything.
I get where you're coming from but I just don't see how you fit them both in the same lineup right now (and thats not due to dumbele taking up too much room due to his waist line) given Ndombele's terrible fitness. Our midfield would just get overrun.

I think mourinho has to sacrifice one of dele or lucas to introduce more guile through bergwyn or ndembele (once he's actually lost a few dozen kilos)

Beaten by the better team, with better players and a better manager. I'm pleased we only lost 0-1. Good result really, let's face it we are a mid-table team at heart that has a little flutter here and there.
i'd swap managers with them in a heartbeat, considering how long there midfielders have been there they looked organised, played some nice football and showed way more desire and belief than our shower. either our squad is championship standard or we simple lack a manager capable of setting them up to excel, I don't buy the Mourinho's a winner, hes past it, him and his dated ideas on football.

If I was Kane I would seriously consider going to Levy and handing in a transfer request.
But what did Kane do any better than the others? He can moan and have strops but he was walking around the pitch, making no challenges to get the ball and just generally looked half arsed.

This does feel much more significant than just merely an opening day blip.

Jose will now need to navigate September very fucking carefully indeed because after the second half showing he will be under even more scrutiny.

This is where it turns if we have a few bad ones early doors.

Mourinho loves manipulating the narrative. He had an excuse last year as he was "cleaning up someone else's mess"

Thats why it goes to shit for him after a year or two . He runs out of people to blame and then the body of work speaks for itself and he blames his eggs for the state of his omelette.

Can blame Jose all you want but the reality is that about 8/9 players in our starting XI are bang average or worse.

See no reason to expect us to finish anywhere near top 4.

Sorry Jose has had best part of year now to work with this team and we still look completely incohesive! No idea/plan how to attack or break down teams! He has started to make poor and random substitutions! Worst of all players definitely aren't playing for him

Meanwhile Sky Sports are previewing Chelsea’s new signings... Werner, Ziyech, Chilwell, Thiago, Havertz.

If that display doesn’t show Levy why he needs to spend immediately, nothing will.
Don’t you know you can’t buy success, we fans are obssessed by spending, we need find a different obsession such as profits or property, that’s where the real winners are

His attitude was shit today too. He looks fucked and he wasn’t leading by example at all.
99% of the time, he was just jogging. I am sorry you are very much loved here. But if you wanna be one of the world best players, show the bloody hunger first. I have never seen Lewandoski or a league two striker jog 99% in a match!

Lead by example Harry!

Take Son and Kane out of that team today and That’s a side flirting with the wrong end of the table. The club seem to be sleep walking into it to. laughable for levy to say it’s hard to improve because we’re looking at players at the top end of the pyramid. This side is so far from that.

Depressing stuff.

I’ll find it hard to watch much more of that shite.
Mate, Ndombele isn't the solution I dont think any player is. The players have the ability to play better than this, much better, something just didn't work today. It's a systematic problem, be it confidence, be it tactical, be it rustiness. Unfortunatly, it is a systematic problem we saw a lot of last year..

Ultimately, It's one game, and too early to make much from it. The first game rarely is a good reflection of how the season will pan out, however, it was a terrible performance.
You can tell all this defensive shit day after day is sapping the life out of the players.

The only one who looks like hes enjoying it is Davies, no surprise there because hes absolute garbage.

I don't think that was actually the biggest issue today - yeah Everton created more than us, but didn't really create that much until they scored from the free kick and forced us to take the game to them...which we failed to in spectacular fashion.
