Exactly this. Sick and tired of those who contribute nothing to the match thread only to pop in and post some sarcastic bullshit comment about how we're all babies or bedwetters etc and then you hear fuck all else all match from them.
Maybe it's because we're actually watching the match rather than staring at our phones?

It's ok talking about bringing Bale back, but that's all about making season 2 of the documentary exciting, making us more attractive to Amazon and, by extension, America. It's exactly the same with the Alex Morgan signing.

But back in the real world, and on the actual pitch we could really, really do with a midfield first. And not just the players on Jorge Mendes' books either ?

there’s a season2? :bored:

When Jose took over midseason he suggested change would be slow as he didn’t have time to work with the players and out the systems he wanted in place. We then had the season half and a mini preseason, but still no signs of change. We’ve now had another (albeit shortened) preseason, and still no signs of change.
If there was a hint of a system, some structure, some style of play being built from the ground up, not necessarily a finished package, but even the merest hint of some grass roots emerging of some form of DNA being put into the team, it’s be half way easier to stomach, than this current aimless, styleless, clueless abomination of a team we have to watch.
Yeah some will think it’s an overreaction on the first game of the season, but it’s the lack of change of direction since last November I’m judging it on. The players look flat and the football is no better.

We were lazy in our pressing. That is a consequence of bad fitness, bad pre-season. Some players didn't even have a pre-season. Some players had a wrong state of mind. I don't want to speak about it - I'm not sure about it.

Yes Jose and its your responsibility to get the above right.

Seriously? Your argument is 'where did Ancelotti finish last season?'?

My point is that - after the thirty-odd games that Mourinho has been here - we still have no plan of how to attack apart from 'hit it long' and that it is easy to stop us doing it; and you ask where Ancelotti finished last season?

Fuck.

lol still you keep this going, we finished above the half decent manager in Ancelotti (I think hes much better than half decent)... If I have to explain where i am coming from further there really is no point.

He's a manager, not a magician. Pre-season was two weeks followed by an international break, and we had Covid cases and quarantines to handle. Eddie Howe or whoever on earth people want to get in couldn't have somehow changed that circumstance.

Kane cant get near anyone because our system of pressing is utter shite.

It's a half arsed attempt at pressing whilst worrying too much about over committing players.

If you’re so starved of the ball I don’t see how it’s possible to be an effective pressing team. You need periods of possession and territorial dominance to pen teams in and force mistakes as well as simply having the energy to do it.

I understand what you're saying. It's just got absolutely nothing to do with the point that I've made twice now and you still don't seem to get. And you need to look up the meaning of 'hyperbole' and how to use it..

So the other managers who got their teams playing well are magicians?

I said it once and I said it before Mourinho is not the answer. I know we have a couple of average players in the team but we also have some world class ones. A decent manager would've been able to beat everton at home with the squad we have.

Whereas we certainly lack quality in certain areas (where our spine looks really weak in CB and CM), what worries me even more is that I have no idea what our tactical plan was. Especially since Jose now has had plenty of time to work with the players.

I know it is just one game, but attacking wise we looked really void of ideas. We hit them once on the counter, where Sonny should have passed it to Kane instead of Dele. Defensively, our pressing game did not look cohesive at all, and the back four overall looked pretty disorganized and ball watching (highlighted by the cross where our four defenders were all caught ball watching and missing Rodriguez). Dier and Toby also looks incredibly slow, which becomes even more dangerous when our midfield does not press properly.

Won't be the first time we have started a season badly, 2015/16 season under Poch.
1st game away Man U lost 1-0 , home Stoke drew 2-2 , away Leicester drew 1-1, home Everton drew 0-0

No way our team can win the league but still hope for top 4 and perhaps Everton maybe just be what they have been looking for since Kenwright took over in 1999.

I'd love to know what Mourinho really thinks about his own decisions. Deep in his heart he must look at this Sissoko sub and wonder why he did it.

Hyperbole - "exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally"

Most people saying the team is shit, Jose is shit, Levy is shit, after one game? Or wait, should I be taking these statements literally... again, after one game?

I can definitely see the system and a change in the side post Poch, it's super duper shit but I see it .

11 men behind the Ball, try to be compact, give up possession, and counter the team win its won back with a right sided overlap
