Do you honestly believe that?
Its Jose's philosophy, the team who has less possession, takes fewer risks and makes fewer mistakes has a greater chance of not losing. Its passive and unless you have super counter attacking players dull beyond belief.

Fucking hell this place is toxic right now.... shameful.
Mate, last season was fucking awful for the most part.

This was meant to be a new era, a clean sheet etc.

We all wanted to see a hungry and motivated looking team out there, instead we saw another lethargic display and even worse the most meaningless reaction to going a goal down, at home as well, that I've ever seen.

I think people have a right to be pissed off.

If that's the mindset of this squad well we can right another season off.

As the weeks go by more & more of the sheep will wake up & realise what a monumental fuck up we made by appointing this ‘has been’ twat. Thank fuck we’re all still locked out of the ground & saving ourselves from watching this car crash football under him

That's all on Mourinho for me. Subbing Dele made no sense and the then the further subs confused the matter. We had the better of the first half and I thought our attacking quality would eventually pay. No idea what Jose was thinking. Would love to know. It seemed mindless and panicky from him.

Like i said I am not impressed, do you feel it just to call our 2 new signings shit and call for the sale of Kane?

So much for the
'their shiny new midfield won't have settled yet' theory.
Poor performance overall
and another goal conceded to a corner.
Poor substitutions.
Some things never change.
Trying to think of some reasons,
excuses even
but nothing coming up yet.

It was two (us) against three (them)..

The whole point when Mourinho made it big time was his 4-3-3 outnumbered the basic 4-4-2 in the middle of the pitch. Basically 3 against 2.. Why he’s now insisting on a 2 man midfield (often 1 man when Sissoko plays!), is totally beyond me.

That's not the question I asked you. I am not Jose's biggest fan by the way, far from it, but he is here, he is new, he has had massively disruptive first season and I will give him time.

Yeah I can’t get my head around that either

People would be much better off simply saying they don't like Jose and want him out than dancing round the situation, I don't like him at all but i am willing to give him a fair crack at it. Poch got a lot of grief his first season if I recall.

Absolutely not. That's ridiculous.

What worries me though is the lack of desire, effort and inability to play more effective attacking football with the individual quality on the pitch.

At the moment we're a team far less than the sum of our individual parts.

Mourinho deserves time but its certainly worrying watching that today.

Can’t stop thinking what is impact of Formosinho leaving the club. At least second half tactics did not make any sense.
Faria is not here neither so is it really Jose, or only part of his succesful group we have.

Meanwhile the club and the fans who pay for the most expensive tickets in the league suffer.

thankgod i dont live in england lol.. i don't think i could force myself to pay top prices for a team who may not even finish in a europa spot this season lol.

I agree, but we cant base this on an injury ridden COVID ended season and 1 game. If after 6-8 games we don't see an improvement trust me I will be out with daggers, I just don't see it yet. We had 2 guilt edged chances first half, if we had suck them we would be singing from the rooftops.

We were at our best with two players who were amazing with the ball at their feet; Eriksen and Dembele. The combination allowed the team to play to everyone's strengths. Kane got the ball more, Dele could focus on being a threat, and teams were more scared of coming at us.

Dembele leaving and not having a new person who is extremely capable with the ball at their feet (alongside the basic attributes of giving a shit) in the middle has meant we can't retain possession anywhere near as well and that switches the entire game on its head. Kane is now having to fight for the ball instead of receiving it and Dele has to come further back to create where he's just not as good. On top of all that, Everton (and others) can piss on us in our own half and not be too worried about losing possession. All the players are exploited now and it's easy to constantly complain about their weaknesses, because it's what we're watching for the majority of the game.

We better be bloody sure Tanguy is going to give us that in the middle, and Lo Celso is our new Eriksen. We need quality on the ball in abundance or this could fall like domino's come next year.

What I find weird is that people keep saying that under Mourinho we had the 4th best points return in the league last season. But we were very lucky in quite a few games and played really poorly more times than not. Our game plan is the sit deep and nick a goal. It doesn’t matter if it’s Liverpool, Man City or Norwich. If we don’t nick the first goal then we have no game plan. We have no method to play through teams. Today Son pressed aggressively several times, for the rest of the front 3 or 4 to not bother. Really poorly trained team.

I don't like Jose and I'm willing to give him till Christmas. If we're not still in with a sniff of top 4 then he can get his fat paycheck and carry on his merry way.

I know this game was poor, there's no getting away from that but we do have the tools within the squad to fix these issues and shouldn't write off our season based on this one game. We're notoriously poor at the start of nearly every season (which is something the club needs to analyse greatly).

We had a good defensive shape today in the first half, Doherty and Hojbjerg did actually provide some solidity. What we lacked was the connection from midfield to attack. I wasn't shocked to see Dele not come out for the 2nd half, I don't think he was any worse than anybody else out there but I knew Jose wouldn't risk Ndombele on for Winks but I was surprised that Lamela wasn't the chosen one, he can link midfield to attack and play the 1-2's and also can add a lot of intensity which we lacked.

I think if we look at going forward and we consider that Lo Celso will be back, Lamela can come in, hopefully Ndombele can get up to speed and add the creativity from deeper we can fix by far the biggest issue of our game today.

What concerns me is our defence. Dier has been touted as the big solution but again he fails to attack the ball, Alderweireld was very poor today and looked 2 yards behind the game. We need Sanchez to kick on because he can provide what we lack and is a possible solution. If I'm Jose I'd personally be more desperate for Reguilion than Davies so we have a more balanced fullback system both in defence and attack.

Bringing on Sissoko really ruined our shape and I thought the logical solution was going to be because we were bringing on Ndombele to make it 4-3-3 and add Sissoko to cover defensively. What we saw was akin to the Poch era where we lose all shape chasing a game we're losing.

Stop posting such reasoned and measured insight here please.
