I know you’re joking but the whole thing about a lift is that, in part at least, it’s just superficial.

I’m more concerned with signing players that will improve us as a team. I’m not saying Bale wouldn’t but I also don’t think he’d automatically come in and solve the shit show that is the squad at the moment, lift or no lift.

And that’s before you even consider the fact he’s likely to spend half the time in the physio room, what a lift that would be for the fans.

We’re kinda in Danny Rose google territory. I wonder if the same people who still make the jokes about Danny are the same ones who are just clamouring for a big name. The general view against Danny was that it’s about getting the right profile of player rather than a big name. I dunno.
Is it really a shit show? We finished last season on the right track and in fine form. We had 1 loss at the start of the season after a disruptive pre-season. Even last season while the football wasn't the best we were well in the hunt for 4th until the Son injury. What signing Bale would give us is another world class player so if Son and Kane are out we still have Bale and gives us better confidence to rotate and rest them all.

For people doubting the impact a 31 year old Bale would have here, just a small reminder that mourinho signed a 35 year old Ibrahimovic for united, helping them to 2 trophies and the community shield (glorified friendly) in his 1st season. Cant underestimate the difference a renown star coming in can have on a team.

True...but Ibrhamovic still can play 2000+ minutes a season. Bale is struggling to cross 1800+ minutes in league in last 3 seasons.
Bale - quality not in doubt. Its his injury record for me.
I wont say no to him but if we dont buy him wont be bothered either

If United think they can play poker with Dortmund they've got another thing coming.

Dortmund don't want or need to sell and won't be panicked into selling at what United are trying to pay.

Thats why I think United are genuinely pushing to loan Bale.

I agree on Utd not fooling Dortmund, Woodward has caved too many times for anyone to not call their bluff. I just question why Utd would cave so early after spending so long trying to agree personal terms (supposedly only just fully agreed last week).

I can see why Sancho would be comfortable to stay and why Dortmund would wait (although I suppose they would relish getting £100m to spend in a depressed market). I just question whether Utd would really walk away from such a prime target and not just pay the asking price. Going from a 20 year old potential England superstar to a 31 year old that Real Madrid are literally paying to leave is quite the change in policy, even compared to our striker situation! You never know with Utd though, £300k is a pretty normal salary to them.

Shit show might have been a tad hyperbolic but I honestly think we’ve got some quite serious problems with the strategy/how we’re being run at the top, massive concerns about the manager and also big concerns about a good part of our squad, both in terms of mentality and ability. I’m just not convinced Bale is going to solve these issues but then I’m not sure what will other than a complete overhaul and writing off the next couple of seasons which isn’t going to happen obviously.

When did Trix say that ?

I was referring to Trix ITK yesterday saying Levy is the person holding up a potential Bale deal (which in itself was not fully negative), I was speculating that since then the deal has gone further south.

Not sure the minutes played is down to his ability to play, more so zidane's jealousy of Bales ability to grow hair

This is wildly optimistic but hopefully Bale and his agent are putting pressure on Levy with getting the United stuff in the media.

Press building on Bale to Utd. Dortmund talking up keeping Sancho. All a game of poker between the two or will genuinely get Bale and wait a year for Sancho?

Concerns me that following Trix's ITK Levy might have walked away from this deal. Feels like the deal the whole club needs for sure, a bit more ambition shown by the chairman might get a buzz around the place that seems to be sorely lacking.
Sky have been pushing Bale to United for weeks if not months, I honestly don't thinks that's a goer.

Have to say that if Utd go out & sign Bale after we have been told that there was a deal to us that was just for us, then I will lose my shit. This club needs to be backed, we were in the Champions League final last year for fuck sake, and we are pissing around with our signings as per usual. I'm usually quite level headed with Levy but to see Bale rock up at Utd would tip me over the edge.
I agree in part with this, however from what we’ve been told on here (and please do correct me if I am wrong!) that this is Levy pushing for Bale, we haven’t heard that Mourinho wants him have we? If he doesn’t want him then no need to lose your shit.
If an ITK has said otherwise then please let me know. It’s just if Mou isn’t bothered about this deal then it’s not the end of the world.

True and that's a fair point.

I wonder if this is one of the reasons he’s hesitated. Mourinho might be neutral on the whole situation. But imagine a situation where we get Bale and a cheap striker. It doesn’t work out for either player and Mourinho has the opportunity to say “well I never asked for Bale and had to have a cheaper striker as a result.”

Has anyone had a look on the man u forums to see if they think they will sign him or if it is a load of nonsense?
They’re probably in the same boat as us: relying on ITK and trying to sift the wheat from the chaff in terms of media links.

Jose is all about containing and then getting match winners to be clinical on the counter attack. I would be stunned if he didn’t want Bale.

tbf, i think that will be the final straw for a lot of people, only downside is our "deal" if you like isn't in the mainstream media and unless you're a fan/member of this site, it's unlikely people will know that it appears danny boy is playing silly bastards with madrid and bale ( when we've heard both sides their end want us)....

If someone can get this deal done - do people think this is own the stage until the end of the window or gets down relatively soon ? Personally the former makes em think we would be out of the running ...

Based on what Trix said this needs to be done sooner rather than later. I would also argue the later it goes the more it brings Utd into the equation.
