Almost as though they're German...I watched the Bayern hammering of Schalke this week and realised the style of play is exactly what Jose is trying to create. Fast transitions, direct passing, variable pressing - only difference is of course they do it so efficiently.
It's also rare to find someone whose ideal game of football was actually the soccer joke from The Simpsons, he definitely took Brendan's 'but we won the passing' to heart:I miss Bus Conductor. It's rare to be able to enjoy reading somebody's posts while also disagreeing with almost all of it.
I’m so excited to see the turgid football Mourinho serves up with this exciting squad.
That ain't going to happen. Times have changedIf he can get Real Madrid 2011/12 and Chelsea 2014/15 levels out of it then it's anything but turgid.
So boring. You've said the same thing about 100 different ways. We all understand your point of view. Why not take a break from this thread and go find some happiness elsewhere. Go on - it'll be good for you. That ain't going to happen. Times have changed

If he can get us playing like Real Madrid that’ll be great. Largely flat track bullies but we would all be delighted. Precious little evidence he’ll get us playing like Real fucking Madrid though. If he can get Real Madrid 2011/12 and Chelsea 2014/15 levels out of it then it's anything but turgid.
Lambert!?! As in Paul?IIRC, one wanted Rodgers and the other wanted Lambert.
...to win matches you need a good attack, to win titles you need a good defence.
Excellent point. A new CB is key to being really successful this season.

Chelsea 14/15 did not play fantastic football. Fabregas was excellent. Costa too. Otherwise it was just consistent results grinding with an amazing defence. Except when they spanked us 3-0. They were great that day.
Pro - let’s see if he can get us playing like the biggest club in the world 9 years ago. There's little evidence because maybe we haven't been able to field a first eleven yet that would resemble anything like his Real team, perhaps wait until until things settle down a little, that would be a good idea.
Isn't this forum about being able to express opinions? My opinion of Mourinho is obviously different to yours, but I've not gone all personal and childish with suggesting that you're a right miserable and self righteous twat.So boring. I just hope Jose can get it all to click now because that's one thing we have very rarely been able to do since he arrived, and admittedly for a period before that in all honesty. We are weeding out the mediocre players from the first 11 and starting to raise the general quality. I still just think we need that additional creative central player to help knit everything together, but from looking very far to having a decent enough team this season, we're looking just a few players away from having an incredibly talented squad.

Contre - every season of his since
The hope is that he will make us an effective side that wins more games of football and hopefully a trophy. I really hope that will happen. But it’s unusual to see someone argue he will make us play good football (ie not turgid).
You have to be balls deep into subjectivism to argue that Mourinho hasn’t got us playing underwhelming football so far. It hasn’t been great for 10 months.Turgid football is subjective regarless so this is a pointless debate. What I'm hoping for is consistent and winning football so the wet dreams about attacking football is secondary as long as we win, that should be the remit.
If you want sexy football we should hire Bielsa or rehire Poch but then I'd have to question what's more important to you.

And it wasn’t great under Poch for 10 months either. Apart from the thrilling champions league run which counts some of the most exciting spurs games I’ve ever seen.
Mourinho would have to get us playing better than the sum of our parts for us to win something. And he hasn’t done that since Inter. That’s not his style. He creates a team of stingy warriors and relies on moments of individual brilliance going forward. Bale will help a lot with that once he gets fit but we aren’t going to have a stingy defence with this personnel and we’ll waste a lot of exciting talent in the process.
Realistically he might get us a domestic cup win and champions league. Fingers crossed!
